Jobe is never in a million years a striker (or forward) but has played as many games in those positions as anyone else in our squad. Tells its own story. For what it's worth, I think he ends up a defensive midfielder, anchor man type. I'd 100% get rid if we get a competitive offer.
A forgettable game in which, thankfully, we weren't punished. Neither side were very good, but we looked like a side devoid of ideas and praying for a bit of luck. Still a few positives from this weekend though: 1. Clean sheet 2. One more fixture closer to getting some of our better players back from injury 3. Extra point on the board 4. We got one point. Four of the bottom 8 got none. The other 4 just matched what we got. The 9th from bottom team play at Leeds tomorrow and might not get anything either. 5. Ballard got through unscathed Getting the likes of 09, Alese, Clarke and Roberts back will give the whole team a lift. Then we'll get back to winning ways. Not a single team in the bottom 8 won today and a couple of them got humped. We'll be comfortably clear of the bottom six, as the other teams are that poor. Massive summer coming up, not just for the team, but for Speakman as well. **** this window and the appointment of a new coach up and he'll likely be shown the door. Should be lots of comings and goings, so should be an exciting time. We have to get good money for our stars and be ruthless with the rest of the squad in who we retain. Need to try to release youngsters who are showing no signs of improvement, as well as ditching some others who are not top six Championship standard. Then the hard part will be investing wisely in replacements who are top six Championship standard, along with a few who could potentially be. It's difficult to be positive after the run we've been on, but these days are not half as dark as they were only a short few years ago under Parky. We shouldn't forget how far we've come in 2 years.
It's ridiculous that KLD & Speakman expect MD to see out the season without any thought to the fan base that work hard all week and turn up at the SOL, spending their hard earned to watch the utter dross we witnessed today. We are like a ship with no rudder at the moment.
Another contender for worst performance of the season for me. Can’t remember begovic making a meaningful save or us creating any chance at all. Don’t think I’d go as far to say we deserved to lose but Patterson saved us ant the end and was my motm which says a lot. Struggling to think of a positive tbh. Thought hemir was dreadful, styles got beat easily most times, ba awful, jobe anonymous. Maybe patto for his clean sheet and Neil made some decent passes but can’t feel too happy about a point against QPR who were one of the poorest I’ve seen since promotion. Still think there should be an appointment made before the next game and the upcoming summer is really huge. A repeat of the 2023 summer and I think there’s a chance we could be looking at the bottom of the table more than a playoff place. Got to keep the faith I suppose
I'm just amazed with some of these claims about KLD being 'in it for the money'. Seriously this is the cold damp NE coast and a run down industrial town trying to rebuild itself. There's a thousand better places, with more certainty of making money, than here. This is grindingly difficult and fraught with difficulties. If it's such a goldmine why aren't/weren't dozens of buyers queuing up to get their hands on the club. Anyone coming in would have to navigate the new financial regulations and the ridiculously big gap in the divisions. With all these constant accusations of being sly and greedy I'd get rid of the club ASAP if I was him ... ... why don't those who think they know best get together and buy it.
You're not wrong but if you’re looking for a tenuous positive, we played like that and came away with a point.
Squad depth is a problem. We are suffering with injuries, but the evidence suggests the lads on the bench are some way behind the first team lads. That is a worry ahead of the summer.
I beg thousand pardons for my typo. Where do I send my fine? Do I address it "Care of the grammar police"?
It was a shambolic performance but after the run we’ve been on recently I’m just relieved we’ve ended the losing run. Take the point and move on with some of our senior players back. Speakman should be worried about his position going into the summer
Our squad is big in terms of numbers, this is the problem with having loads of young players at different stages of development, some are ready, some aren't but can get away with the odd start and sub appearance here and there. This is just the reality of the players we have, some of them will make it and become good players, some will take longer and others won’t make it.
I don't know why people get so defensive about Speakman, he's an employee just like the head coach etc. If he isn't performing and the last 3 windows are hardly glowing tributes then surely the much vaunted model allows for his replacement with little to no disruption? We are quick to sack head coaches for non performance
Shouldnt take 4 coaches mate. If so somebody somewhere should be out the door. The only people who can construct a side to win matches are coaches, god knows why 4 of them are saying the same. Something not right there. We have drifted towards an almost exclusive young player approach, whilst simultaneously shedding the experience we have at an alarming rate. I hope it shifts or when Clarke, Ballard, Neil go we might well be in real trouble of sliding back to where we have come from. This period is the most important in KLDs ownership for me. He has all the credit for everything so far, and it is fully deserved, this season though has been alarming and it needs remedying. I would worry for us with such a young squad were we to start next season badly and be in a relegation battle in January.
Agree with every word mate, massive summer ahead, no excuses either with the funds available from the inevitable sales, we aren’t miles off just need some smart buys in key areas to be in the mix again 3 players that wouldn’t cost the earth from team likely to go up that make us instantly better Shackleton from Leeds Cresswell from Leeds Cannon on loan from Leicester that’s the type of market we should be in for me
I have said it before, if he survives the end of season review I will be surprised. I dont think he deserves too personally. Sadly I think Dodds may go too, which would be a shame, but we cant keep changing one link in the chain and expect everything to improve.
4 head coaches have said we need experience to compliment the young talent, if it was 1 you could say they were moaning, but when 4 say it you have to wonder if they are speaking the truth
