Buck wont sign anything unless he has backing for team strengthening in January, there have been a few on here who said we will be lucky to sign 2 players for little if any money at all, well Brenden rodgers thinks differently. The key to his contract will be down to how ambitious the club is , remember that relegation will mean the break up of the team so moving forward is the only option as far as i can see, hopefully the club will be prepared to back him, even Alex ferguson has told the club they must invest! my guess he is happy to see how his budget/targets unfolds in January then decide if the club are serious about "alligning their ambition with his" It would also be a help if the club could stop ballsing up the paper work for transfers this time! I think Brenden wants to stay, but SCFC must start being more professional off the field and they must start acting like a Premier league club not a league 2 club, pressing matters for me . 1. Brendens contract and securing the money/signings he needs in January to keep us up. 2. Sorting out and finalising Details of the accadamy/training facilities ASAP! 3. Being more professional with transfer paperwork and contract negotiations, we should have learnt lessons from the David Edger deal but didnt, its well known that Rodgers was pissed off when he lost the use of those 2 players, more amatuer dealings in January could well cost us our prem league status!! If the club tighten up on these issues then Rodgers signing will not be a problem
I agree we need to make sure this time round, that we fully support our manager in the January transfer window, and not cutting corners, by seemingly paper work errors to save money!........................ please log in to view this image
I suggest that you watch this video of Brendan press call on Swans Player, you can listen to in depth what he says about new contract talks, they are happening today, and it was spoken about last week. So its from the horses mouth so to speak! http://www.swanseacity.net/articles/20111124/swans-player-brendans-press-call_2264143_2526736
well said Norway just like me we cannot pretend to be a premiership club without doing everything possible without spending vast sums of money to stay in the premiership. Brendan's not daft he knows what we need he has said it often enough, He will only sign if the club shows it wants to stay in the premiership and not before......we all know the minute he gets what he thinks it will take to keep us up then he will sign straight away. so i hope he signs very soon,,,, I agree 100% with what you say norway nothing less will do...
He will sign by Christmas , it's in hand, his press conference basically says that if you watch the last 2-3 minutes where he discusses this matter.
if he signs then he has got the money he wants to keep us up, no need to wait till xmas or even the day after tomorrow.... he wants to sign so why not tomorrow...i cant wait for the news that he has signed.....
Dai of course if he signs he gets what he wants, but I still say its not a huge spend , and I would be amazed if it's above £2m , still I feel we will hear news shortly.
2 Million!!! Now even I'm amazed with that one Jager, you tight fisted git, you not related to Huw are you??..............
I'd be very surprised too if we spent more than 2mil. We spent more than the other 2 promoted clubs, and we're not as cash-rich as either of them, so I'd be very surprised if the board went against their previous policy and splashed out in the hope of staying up.
Scott i Think you Will Find that QPR Are paying massive wages ,the outlay they have Made in that area alone Will be more than double what we have paid in transfers.
Yes but look who is backing the team, probably one of the richest men in the world, we shouldn't be comparing what others are doing as its not really relevant, we can guarantee that our club will have the lowest spend in the league together I think with Norwich .
spend peanuts get monkeys .....£15 million will go towards getting the strength and depth players brendan says we need. even with £15 million he will find it very difficult to find 6 players capable and better than what we have already got so with a measly £2 million it will be impossible......
Dai so thanks for clearing that up, we spent £10m at the start of the season to get monkeys , it's not about the amount to spend its getting the right players in, and I have given you a breakdown what I think will happen in the next transfer window on another thread. I can't see the club endorsing at running at a £5m + loss if they spend £15m in the transfer window, who would put up the extra money to spend, you have no chance of the directors pumping that much money in, so again I ask where is the money coming from to run such a huge loss ?
We don't need 4 to 6 players in January & am a bit disappointed Buck asked while negotiating his own contract frankly . Just because money is there doesn't mean we have to spend . A utility defender & a quality striker & were staying up IMO . Seen a lot of teams bring in expensive transfers only to see the team recede in quality as the team that got them there is disbanded
If brendan thinks we need 4-6 players then 4-6 players we need, he is the boss and he knows..... just like a lot of us do that we dont have much of a chance of staying up as things stand, we are too weak there is no depth or strength in the squad and if this is not put right in January then we will have little hope of staying in the premiership for more than one season. He will not sign until he gets some guarantees.....and who can blame him..
" He will not sign until he gets guarantees " Then he'll go the route of Sousa ..... no one is bigger than Swansea 's slow & controlled methods of being frugal
Dai you still haven't answered who you think is going to pump in an additional £5m or so to enable us to spend that £15m you feel is needed to buy players, to help here are a list of shareholders in our club, can you put a figure next to each one so we know where you think the money is coming from Mr & Mrs Martin Morgan - Brian Katzen - Swansea City Supporters Society Ltd - Huw Jenkins - Robert Davies -
but thats Swansea's biggest problem they think to small, a big drawback at the end of the day that is unnecessary and small minded....
I actually think that it's the swans strongest points in this tough financial climate , and let's face it Dai it's not your money at risk is it ? If you want that kind of spend its got to come from somewhere, the club won't spend money it doesn't have, thought you would have learned that by now.
forget Jenkins he has not put any money into the club......and ain't we guaranteed £90 million whether we stay up or not.....No jager it dont wash to say where the money as little as £15 million is going to come from... the interest we get every month is mind blowing......skint we are not....premiership club we are suppose to be now and everything possible should be done to make sure we stay here...
