Thing is, this country was actually better in the 80s and 90s. I'm probably looking at it from a child's perspective, seeing as I grew up in those decades. Regardless of that, though, this country is a bit bollocks nowadays. Nothing seems to work properly. Precious institutions have been run into the ground. The financial outlook is especially bleak. The incumbent government is largely ******ed. The music is dire. Television is mostly dross. And literature is stunted and stilted. I best kill myself. Or invent a time machine. Or move to Vanuatu.
Are you still peddling that old myth? David Cameron quite clearly stated that he would enact whatever result came from the Referendum. He was so sure of victory even though he failed to get any concessions out of the European Commission dictators (so no point joining the EEA), lost the vote and quit leaving someone else to try and get a deal through our corrupt Parliament. It was black and white: Remain was the status quo heading towards Socialist oblivion. Leave was free to do what we vote for in the British Parliament and trade with parts of the world that are not in terminal decline like the EU. The EU chose to punish themselves and us by making trade with one of their big markets more difficult with restrictions. That is going well as the social media morons seem more and more desperate to get back on the sinking ship as soon as possible to bail it out with a tin can. It becomes quicker and quicker to go through this thread every day with more and more brain dead losers just posting utter drivel from the brain dead of Twatter that can just be ignored. These simpletons have a vote but they won’t be so happy when the next Labour disaster arrives. How many days in office will it be before Starmer and Reeves are blaming the Tories for the lies that they and the Labour Party have been telling on social media for the last two years?
Artificial Intelligence Act: MEPs adopt landmark law According to the press release, this law was endorsed by MEPs with 523 votes in favour, 46 against and 49 abstentions. Of the law it states that “It aims to protect fundamental rights, democracy, the rule of law and environmental sustainability from high-risk AI, while boosting innovation and establishing Europe as a leader in the field.” It is laughable that the EU have acted to protect “democracy” when they have so little of it to protect. What “environmental sustainability” needs protection from AI? I will wager that most of the 618 MEPs in the European Parliament know absolutely nothing about Artificial Intelligence as many of them have no actual intelligence. Like all EU legislation, this came from the unelected European Commission, who wield the real power as the Parliament is just a talking shop that exists to rubber stamp what edicts they pass down. This is just red tape and bureaucracy for the sake of having control over AI. How long until AI taxes arrive in the name of “democracy”? The useless tools that run the EU have been watching old Arnie movies and think weaponised AI is going to wipe them all out. If only we were so lucky. Ironic that over in the USA, the Pentagon is already allocating $6bn funding for AI-powered drones, which has got a number of players in the big weapons industry interested. And that is with Sleepy Joe in the White House!
You really are brain dead. Anything longer than a text message is too much for you. How did you manage to form an opinion without even reading something? Three paragraphs littered with facts just too much to handle.
It was just incredibly boring at the start so didn’t seem worth it tbh. Hopefully it’ll spark some fascinating debate though.
I'm just glad the gammons are content that we now control our borders and the RNLI can sleep safely at night
‘The Act made no provision for the result to be legally binding on the government or on any future government; legally it was merely advisory.’ So , there’s that …as a matter of law, neither the government nor Parliament had to do anything about the referendum. Black and white votes tend to end up divisive. I’d rather have freedom of movement to be honest - like the deal those pesky Norwegians have . The rest of your left v right points, I’ll leave that to you and others to ponder .
