I live in Hull and haven't bought that haddock sheet for about 40 years, and come to think of it any other newspaper. Though calling HDM a newspaper is subject to interpretation of the Trades Description Act.

 

Think the last time I saw a paper copy was when my granny was alive 8 years ago

 

Don’t think they stopped Ray Harvey going in, so no.

 

Question for the older members on here….where these rules common place? Where they enforced?

If I remember right, the snug rooms and smoke rooms was for women.

 

and that was actually enforced?? What would have happened if a woman went in that room?

They wouldn't get served and sent back to the other room.
The Bar was men only.

 

They wouldn’t have.They knew their place back then.

 

No woman were allowed in Chalk Lane Club right up to the early 80's.

 

Apart from the strippers obviously

 

It was the same in most of the clubs, no women on a Sunday day time

 

Walton St club was no women in the bar until a few years ago wasn't it?

Strapped for cash. Ie no credit.
