Assisted dying, also known as medical aid in dying or assisted suicide, is a health service available in New Zealand since November 7, 2021. Here are some key points about assisted dying: Eligibility Criteria: To qualify for assisted dying, a person must meet strict criteria: Be 18 years or older. Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. Have a terminal illness that is likely to end their life within six months. Be in an advanced state of irreversible decline in physical health. Experience unbearable suffering that cannot be relieved in a way they find tolerable12. Process: Assisted dying involves a person who is experiencing unbearable suffering from a terminal illness taking or being given medication to end their life. The service follows specific steps, medical assessments, and important safeguards to ensure the person is eligible and making the decision voluntarily, without pressure from anyone else. The framework for the service, including eligibility criteria and safeguards, is set out in the End of Life Choice Act 2019. The Assisted Dying Service is provided by Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora and regulated by the Ministry of Health – Manatū Hauora1. Legal Context: Assisted dying became legal in New Zealand through the End of Life Choice Act 2019. It allows a person with a terminal illness to request medication to end their life3. Important Note: Not everyone with a terminal illness will be eligible for assisted dying. The decision to pursue assisted dying is deeply personal and must be made by the affected individual without any external pressure14. If you or someone you know is considering assisted dying, I recommend seeking professional guidance and support from healthcare providers and counselors. Remember that this is a complex and sensitive topic, and compassionate care is essential during such difficult times.
He’d probably sell his vote then not pay the tax on it. Peter Kyle. Decent enough bloke from what I know of him.
It’s a relevant question. But yes, absolutely. Turn the entire dump into a massive ****ing crater if that’s what it takes. Send a message to Lebanon and especially Iran because that’s who this war is really with. The Gazans are the unfortunate pawns but they weren’t feeling so unfortunate when they were celebrating on October 7th so bollocks to them.
Hundreds of thousands killed then? To achieve what? A whole new generation of terrorists? Or do you agree with Netanyahu that all Palestinians should be eliminated 'from the river to the sea'?
There will never be peace, only different stages of war. You could kill every Palestinian in Palestine and you’d still have the diaspora along with Lebanon and Iran so it wouldn’t make much difference. Until the hostages are returned then this will and must go on. The ball has always been in Hamas’ court but the leverage of one hostage is worth more to them than the value they place on every Palestinian put together. My position is probably more extreme than most but yeah a bit of revenge wouldn’t go amiss either and it’s not like we’ve ever been great at popularity contests anyway so **** it.
How many hostages have been killed by Israeli actions? When you say 'we' you're speaking as a Jew, not as an Israeli. I sympathise with Jewish people, but the Israeli state has become an horrendous far-right entity which deserves no sympathy in my opinion.
We don’t really know. Some for sure. It’s irrelevant to the task ahead. And the two are intrinsically linked. The place has to exist and it’s always going to be surrounded by people intent on wiping it out so nothing will change for longer than either of us are around. It’s kill or be killed- **** but that’s how it is. One can only hope for longer ceasefires between the inevitable wars.
As a non believer all I’m seeing is a bunch of Islamic zealots and Zionist zealots busily trying to make bits of the psychotic drug dream that is Revelations come true, to the joy of Christian zealots, who actively want the end of the world. **** the lot of them. We can now run a brand new sweep on who will push the nuclear button first - Putin, Khamenei or, when cornered with no friends left, Netanyahu or his successors, in some desperate attempt to repeat Masada (which was more likely a massacre than a mass suicide anyway). You are right, these wars do seem inevitable as long as idiots are wedded to extreme versions of their religious and political ideologies and enough have this bizarre obsession with who ‘owns’ land and where made up borders run. But one of these wars will eventually be the last one, for everybody.
Hopefully I get to see us in an FA Cup quarter-final before that day comes but yeah it probably will come. Also my sister is getting married this year which doesn’t mean a lot to me but my Nan is excited so if they could wait until after that it would be good. Just try and not have too much stress in life until then because there’s not a lot we plebs can do to change it.
