Have we tried Tomori? Gomez's form has been great and could see him in with a shout but he's played more at FB than CB Alisson would be tempting but I'd go VVD.
If this is about england getting a player then the asnwer is obviously alisson, vvd, any amount of CBs, LBs, maybe lw? Like the side has kane, foden, bellingham, rice, someome like trent mabye, stones but then you've walker, tripper/shaww at lb and maguire at cb and picshite at GK. England's last outing that mattered was italy Pickshite walker stones maguire tripper rice phillips foden Bellingham rashford Kane I mean if you get real here for a minute theres not actually that many really good 11s in interantional football but there some right mingers in that line up. Guehi, grealish, trent, james all add to that line up. (if fit) Bowen would add to that line up as rashford isn't arsed. alisson James Stones Guehi Gomez Rice Trent Bowen Bellingham Foden Kane not sure thats all that much better but thats why england wil be favourites. they don't have the outright best in every position but have lots of options.
Given his versatility across the back four, as well as his experience and the level of club he plays for, you would think that Gomez should be in Southgate's mind but I don’t remember seeing anything about him possibly being recalled.
Sky reporting he’s likely to be recalled along with butland today due to injury crises across back line and Gomez versatility
Players like Maddison, Loftus Cheek, Palmer, Jones, Gallagher, Mount and maybe Mainoo give us plenty of options in midfield as well. None of them are really world class (yet), but they'd be solid players and give us great strength in depth.

another absolutely grinding result eliminates inter. it wasn't a terrible game as athletics had to score but its all gravy for England as the Italian challenge for the 5th place trophy implodes. if west sham can complete the trick now that will do for Italy anyway.
Italy were actually top of the rankings. I thought it was Germany and England battling it out for 2nd place
theres so many points to come that this will come down to who has most teams left. Italy will not be top 2 now. (IMO)
It also seems a little crazy that (i believe) the ranking points are same for each competition i.e. you don't get more in the CL than equivalent places in the Europa comps.
I've been reading up on how the points are allocated - very complicated process - and it says that while teams earn the same points for their performance ie 2 for win, 1 for draw, 0 for losing, the bonus points are distributed differently, with the teams in highest competition (CL) getting more bonus points and then less bonus points as you go down (EL and whatever the other one is). I can't find any source that outlines what the bonus points are or how they are worked out.
