People should cool it on Matty Young, he is playing 6th tier football and doing great but comparisons to Pickford are simply going to skyrocket expectations. Let him develop and get experience without the likes of Man City and Liverpool making offers.

No need for that. It's a shame if you don't get any love. Blessings.

I get your point but it would surprise me if he isnt already on the radar, of some top clubs, he is, like Rigg a real asset and we need to recognise it.

I agree. Get him in as 2nd keeper in the first team next season, so he can challenge Patto for the number one spot.

Pickford was playing Conference football at 19 mind.

    Young is 17.

Young is better than Pickford was at 17. I say that with some serious thought in mind.

City have already made an offer from what ive been told, was rejected by club n player when he was 16. Then signed pro deal with us

The fact he was called up to an England u19 squad shows how highly rated he is

Every top club in the country is aware of him

Always a tough one with GKs tho, if hes just going to sit on the bench all season its not great for his development

This kid has what it takes to be england's no1. I agree with others to say hes better than pickford was at 17, hopefully develops like he did

True. It's a tricky balance between showing him that there is a pathway to the first team and his development. Let's hope that the club get it right.

U21 keeper Richardson is also injured now so it looks like Chibueze will be playing most games for them. After that we will be down to u16 keepers for the 21s I think bearing in mind Young is the 18s keeper really.

Young will play first team next season for us imo. Great shot stopper, superb at commanding his box as well. Good with his feet and very vocal as well. I watched Patto for the 21s (or 23s or whatever it was) and he was a brilliant shot stopper but never really commanded his area and dominated the box. Young is different in that respect.

I thought he looked like he could play a bit in the clips from his time in Australia, reckon he's quite a talented lad. Got that Ballardesque desire to win every ball too which you can't teach.

I think that we need to get him more loans so that he plays more first team football, slowly working up through the leagues as we did with Pickford. I don't feel that sitting on the bench is going to help with his development.

On the goalkeeper front I will be happy to retain both Young and Patto next season , but I know which one I would be most upset to loose, I look forward to the time when we have this dilemma in the remaining 2 or 3 key positions we are at present falling short , its not far off imo.
