Good result that. City in any guise are good, Hamilton their captain tonight started a champions league game earlier this season.

Decent point. Didn’t realise City had been struggling this season mind, thought they’d be right up there.

    Manchester City U21 2-2 Sunderland AFC U21
Sunderland AFC Under-21s grabbed a point on the road with a 2-2 draw at Manchester City in the Premier League 2.
Mahamadou Susoho gave the Blues the lead after 20 minutes. Caden Kelly pulled the game level with an emphatic strike five minutes from the break. Harrison Jones headed his side ahead just moments after the equaliser. Tai Sodje sealed a point on the board with a left-footed finish with 15 minutes to play.
The hosts nearly had the lead with less than two minutes on the clock. A cross flashed across goal was fired over by Alexis Tibidi.
The Lads looked to strike back through Jones just moments later, but the midfielder’s low effort was denied by the legs of True Grant.
Five minutes later, Graeme Murty’s side put together a brilliant passing passage of play to break the city press before Oli Bainbridge’s venomous strike was denied by Grant once again.
The hosts grabbed the opener 21 minutes into the first half. Grant dispatched a long ball over the Sunderland defence before Susoho latched onto it and finished past Kelechi Chibueze
The Black Cats had their deserved leveller on 40 minutes. Kelly picked the ball up on the edge of the area before unleashing an unstoppable strike into the bottom corner.
Two in quick succession had the Lads in the lead just before the half-time whistle. Kelly turning provider this time with a in-swinging free-kick headed home by Jones.
Trey Ogunsuyi nearly added a third with a third to play at the Joie Stadium. The Belgium forward was denied by Grant with a low save.
A defensive error with 15 minutes to play led to the City’s equaliser. Sodje took advantage and slotted the ball into the corner of the net.
The Black Cats return to Wearside with a point on the board ahead of next week’s league fixture against Newcastle United.
Sunderland AFC: Chibueze, Lavery, Fieldson, Bell, Bainbridge, Chiabi (J.Jones 88), H.Jones, Middlemas, Tutierov, Kelly (Ryder 70), Ogunsuyi (Walsh 88).
    Unused subs: Cameron, Whittaker.

Our best u21 defenders this season (in my opinion) have been Bainbridge who is a left back and Crompton who is injured, Fieldson perhaps the best of the rest but hasn’t stood out massively. We’re rammed with midfielders, not defenders.

Good to see him back and to be honest with the way we’re playing he can’t be too far away from a spot on the bench.
