they were never going to. Their culture is one of blame and arse covering. They will try to cover thier arses every time as they expect the same back if they are the ref on the spot. They view bing sent to the screen as tantamount to being accused of being incompetent IMO. they really really really don't want to send anyone to a screen or be sent themseevles to a screen. They simply do not view the tech as any sort of aid. they see it as something calling out their incompetance. compare this to the culture of rugby where the ref knows full well he cannot see both sides of a scrum or ruck and is relying heavily on linos and the TMo to spot high challenges or neck rolls etc. They will say stright away show it on the screen and have a nice discussion where they offer thier view and ask for counter points. Football won't allow this as it takes too long and everyone is on thier back to make instant calls anyway. If refs all started going to the screen 5 times a game the media would lose thier heads over it. Delaying the game, incompetants would be screamed at them. The media and fans get the game they deserve and really its all about culture. We have imo lose points v spurs. we were very very comforatbale in the game prior to var intevention to get a jones off then no intevention on a diabolitica 2 yellow red and a wrong var inteveention to rule out a perfect goal after an incompetant flag from a lino. and yet it could have been 1-1 at the end. such a brave display. We have lost points v arsenal at anfield due to a very very poor ref call and arse covering by var. a clear hand to ball was called a natural movoment. we have now lost points to city at anfield due to a ref bottling a high boot assault and var calling it unavoidable and fine. a natural position. Its all down to the culture.
I agree with all of that except I think we should have won. I have a problem with the world 'deserved', in general , I don't know why but if there's another way of saying it then that's how I saw the game. Two brilliantly worked offside goals (they were both offside) just half a step off each time; Diaz with a couple of one on ones that should have been put away, Darwin's chances and the late penalty decision. All these things point to a team doing enough to win save for a few inches and a bit of finishing finesse. City hit the post once, what else?
city had a lot of chances first half and hit the post second half. we had a good few chances too. if you want chances what about foden's chance at the near post when in. what about hitting the upright first half? what about haalands poor effort? city made an error trying to pass it to death. we missed a lot of chances. it could have been 2-2, 3-3. I thought on balance we played really well and got ourselves into the game more and more once thier intensity dropped. we could have won it. they could have won it. klopp was proud of the performance and delighted. that's kind of the important thing whatever the result (spurs 1-2) for example, if the performance is that brave and good you have to be happy. like tbh we missed it midweek and played poor enough. that's how it can go.
Robbed at Spurs - offside fiasco Robbed against Chelsea - handball in the box went out for a corner. Robbed against the goons - odegaards basketball impression Robbed against city chest high foot on macallister I dont wanna hear no "these things even out over a season" ****, enough of the excuses of incompetence. The ref yday was one of the many pgmol ones who recently got paid by man city's owners for to ref a game in abi dabi. Please if anyone can show me one example of man city being robbed of any points in the last 5 seasons and I'll shut my mouth... I'll wait. Otherwise Bent af
I pray that we eventually win the league, then, we do not have look at the results away to Tottenham, Chelsea and home to Arsenal and Manchester City. Surely bad referring has costs us dearly this season.
if we had whatever 6 or 8 points now we'd be talking about crusing the league and giving that fa cup game a right good go. right now we are going to try use anfield to get through the europa and really focus 100% on the elavue for 10 massive cup finals. we will be run out rags next season for the new manager lol.
City had chances, yes, but we dealt with all of them. They didn't deal with any of ours. But for the length of a foot, twice, we scored 3 goals. That's game winning effort.
Well I could say the same for what they did to our chances. nunez was well saved by ortega. foden saved by kelleher etc etc etc. of course they dealt with our chances. was doku hitting the post any different that diaz missing the target totally? he's gone to curl it to top corner when in and missed. both sides threatened well, we stuck in for 30mins then played into it. we chased and worked and found space and played through them. they did the same. yes we could have got 3, but so could they. we did very well but a draw is fair enough. a ref again decided the game nobody is talking about the shockingly poor set up we had off an outgoing corner. nobody in the 6 yard zone nunez asleep to stones. they saw us coming there and we have to address that now nunez was excellent for us in work rate. absolutely brilliant but if he'd just look along the line he'd be far better.
The match was the epic game of the season. Both sides wanted to win and neither wanted to lose. From one end to another end. Very good game to be sincere.
The silver lining about the penalty not being given is that, Salah would probably have been chosen to take it, so it wouldn't have gone in anyway. At least this way we get to bitch about not getting a penalty and can blame the ref. Spoiler: Btw Btw before anyone gets mad... Tongue is firmly in cheek if you couldn't tell
They were nowhere near the two offside goals. Split seconds and they both stand. How many times do you see brilliantly worked goals like them that are a split second off, ruled out and huge sighs of relief from the opposite side because they know it was a huge slice of luck that ruled them out and not their competence. They had nothing like that.
Is Mr M Oliver the same ref who gets paid £3,000 per game to referee in the arab countries, all expenses paid as well. The same area of the world renowned for corruption and where the owners of Man City are based? Just asking for a friend
