Quite right he’s gone, I was just responding to your previous post. let’s look at Manning based on his achievements alone since he’s been here against what was expected of him. He was supposed to move us forward this season, part of the reason for employing him was for his coaching ability, he was supposed to improve us this season. I’m sorry but so far he hasn’t, we’ve actually regressed, granted he’s still got time to turn it around and if he does I will be the first to congratulate him, but based on performances so far he’s failing badly. If you think otherwise that’s your prerogative, I just see no evidence of it.
There was no gun pointed at Lansdown when LJ was in charge or the CEO.. In fact LJs role was first team coach where as Nige was Manager.. Nige must have had more authority
Beat Premiership opposition West Ham and nearly did the save v Forest.. both over two games.. no fluke.. imo we would not have done that under Nige.. No sitting back no last minute goals
And the league positions reflect such. If Nige had us sniffing around the play-offs, rather than relegation with his budget (as we were led to believe he could with his experience), I’d understand the love affair with the guy from so many on here, and I’d join them. It simply didn’t happen that way though
As you rightly said Nige is gone, let him go. The issue now is LM, and is he achieving his targets, you can’t say he was left a crap squad, then evidence how well that squad did against PL opposition, if we have that good a squad that can perform so well against PL opposition why can’t LM motivate them to perform to the same level in the Championship?
Agree Ashton, but we don’t know what his target is. I would guess that for this season now, it is to consolidate with a mid-table finish. The argument about not being left a crap squad, yet playing well in certain games is always brought up when a manager leaves. Same when NP took over, why couldn’t he get LJ’s squad anywhere near the top 10. I think our current squad has too many similar ‘workmanlike’ players, which epitomises Nige’s style. Whereas, LJ’s was (at the end) light in leaders and lacked some steel. To play how it seems Liam wants to play, we need some different types of players added. We have arguably 5 x No 10’s, but no real No 9. We have a disproportionate amount of defensive CM players vs attacking midfielders. That balance takes a while to turn.
Since then we have a fair share of injuries.. I also believe we are better set up against better opposition.. it’s why we did a job on Southampton.. I imagine he’s fully aware that he needs players to slot in for different opposition.. We could have said the same when Nige first came in, we were bloody dreadful.. he needed time to set up how he wanted to.. we need to give LM the same…I believe, LM will do a better job if allowed
All joking and banter/fishing aside, either the Head Coach/manager is responsible for agreeing wages and purchase/sales prices, or it’s the COO. If it’s the HC/Manager then the overspending was instigated by LJ and NP sorted it (well, off the pitch anyway) If however it’s the COO then LJ can’t be held responsible for overspending and Nige can’t be credited with reining it in again. Both HC/Managers operated within the constraints that they were offered. LJ certainly had more assets available to him and that showed in our league finishes under his tenure. Nige had to operate with a smaller purse and again that was reflected in our league positions. I echo 1for’s comment; I don’t know anyone on here who wanted NP gone, but he HAS gone now and LM is trying to use what NP left behind, just as NP had to use what DH left etc etc.
I don't understand your post. You made a point about balancing the books. Nigel Pearsons time here was one of significant reduced spending. Lee Johnsons time was remarkably different as spending massively increased. The spending that occurred under Lee Johnson was exceptional versus Head coaches and Managers in O'Driscoll in Cotterill, Holden and Pearson. I would answer further but its been noted when it comes down to BCFC financial circumstances you don't have a scooby doo. In this thread (link) you are posting things that simply are not true, make believe, fantasy ... Match Day Thread - the derby .... BCFC v CARDIFF KO 12.30 | Page 9 | Not606
You keep referring to Nige, he’s gone. The situation he came into was completely different to the one now for Liam, there is no comparison. Stop the comparisons and deal with the here and now and our present coach. The reason we do better is against better opponents is because our players were assembled to play that way, on the break. Liam was brought here to improve the team with better coaching this season. if we are now saying in order to do that he’s going to need different players, why did we employ him?. We were told the problem was not the squad, which was top half, top 6, depending on who you listened too. If we employed him for his superior coaching skills to improve ids this season, then against all comparisons he’s failed so far.
As a Matchday thread it was OK until the 4th page, but now it's become nothing but a pedant fest. FFS guys, get off your hobby horses and lighten up.............
So, are you saying that, at no point in the LJ/MA era City turned an end of year profit? It seems I’m not alone in not understanding finances.
and being done with half the money of a former midfielder on top of the show. reckon you are alone with that shout that City lost 22m after selling two players for 34m, Wouldnt trust you to pay a gas bill on that. It is quite light. Supcon goes to the same school of economics as our mayor.
