Just avoiding defeat would be a start. Get to the international break and hopefully a few bodies back - we have a few winnable home games to get us over the line
It’s not bullshit. I didn’t say it was time related. There’s no way on earth he was the ‘succession plan’. Tell me where I said it was a delayed process? There was no ‘succession plan’ that’s the point I was making.
I can’t read that. The talk was that Mowbray was intended for a coaching role and that changed when Neil went. Regardless, that’s a small part of several issues, all I care about is us ironing them out before next season.
It doesn’t prove anything. It doesnt prove we had a succession plan and that Mowbray was already in line for the job before Neil went. It was very similar in its delivery to the Beale appointment. They could have pulled that ‘data’ an hour before he got the job. Nothing I read will convince me that there was a succession plan, and that they were like ‘reet, if Neil leaves Mowbray is next’. They then wanted to peddle him end of season.
Good lord. Why would Mowbray be in line for the job when we weren't sacking Neil, he walked out. We then reverted to the data set that appointed Neil in the first place and the numbers had Mowbray top. A calm, quick appointment based on data and fact. How in any way was it similar to the Beale appointment? Beale was widely reported as being at best 2nd choice, Mowbray was quite clearly first choice.
That’s what a succession plan is. You are prepared for all eventualities and you already have a list or a name in place.
THATS EXACTLY WHAT THE ARTICLE SAYS. Mowbray was top of a list that the club already had from using it to appoint Neil.
Typing in capitals doesn’t change your point pal. I do not agree that it was a planned appointment. That is my opinion and was shared by many at the time. I won’t change my mind. I backed Mowbray from the start to the end. I don’t give 2 ****s what the article says. I’m speaking my thoughts and opinions.
"Much of the work had already been done in January. From a data perspective, all roads led to one man. “Tony Mowbray had come out top with the model last time but he wasn’t available,” Acheson says of their snap analysis. Mowbray was announced at the start of the following week." I'm speaking from facts, not bullshit opinions.
But I thought you just said ‘why would we have anyone lined up we weren’t sacking Neil’ Anyway nothing to add and my OPINION stands. We now saying everything clubs put out to the press is accurate? Cos we said similar about Beale didn’t we? Clubs will always put out a statement saying ‘he was our man’. Players do the same ‘yeah it’s a massive club and once the opportunity was there to come here my mind was made up. Move on mate we aren’t gonna agree here and that’s fine we are grown men.
We didn't have him lined up in the sense that we'd been speaking to him, unless we were breaking rules. Nobody from the club was involved in that article, separate company. Opinions only work if you can back them up, which you haven't.
‘opinions’ are our own thoughts and views. ‘facts’ are backed up. If my opinion is the sky is green, that’s my opinion, correct in your view or otherwise.
It’s my opinion, the way I see it, and what I believe. Therefore, I do not need to ‘back it up’. It is ‘how I see it’ as in, an opinion. I won’t be changing this opinion. I hope this is clear enough cos it’s quite tiresome trying to not argue with someone who wants an argument about something that is someone’s opinion…. For clarity, what is ‘fact’ is my definition of ‘opinion’.
Having lost 6 in a row it got me thinking what was our worst run. When Sunderland U23’s take on QPR on Saturday will they be fearful of being part of a 7 in a row? We’ve had some rotten luck when it comes to injuries. Last season as well, we had most of our defence injured which affected our play off result. Half of our first choice players are unavailable so no wonder we are struggling. No wingers, no defenders apart from Hume (if Dan’s injured) and ? Strikers. I think old man Ballard (or is it Neil) at 23 was the oldest on our side at Saints. Injuries, inexperience and no proper manager. No wonder we are losing games. Surely our luck must turn and we get some lucky bounces and we stop these poor goals we’re letting in. I have no relegation fears but the squad needs an overhaul before next season.
The squad does not need an overhaul. If we got all our injured players back tomorrow, the only positions we would need to seriously address are cdm and a striker.
