Aye, whenever I've seen him play for you lot he's always seemed a bit isolated or lost. As you say, don't think he really suits either of us right now. Cheers man, me too ha <ok>

Bugger! Our reserves cost more than our best players <yikes>

    Elliot (0.5)
    Perch (1) Williamson (1) Colo (10) Santon (6)
    Obertan (3) Cabaye (4.5) Smith (6) Jonas (3)
    HBA (6.5) Xisco (5.7)

£50.7 million and the team is significantly worse off for it <laugh>

So you do want to be pedantic? <laugh>

Wiki says he was 5.7 mil rising to 7 (but I dont think we have paid the additional 1.3 yet, it's why we refuse to give him a game).

So £50.7 million, any advances on that?

What I think is our best starting XI and bench:

    GK - Krul (£200,000)
    DL - Santon (£5.5m)
    DC - Colo (£10m)
    DC - Taylor (Free)
    DR - Simpson (£500,000)
    ML - Jonas (£3m)
    MC - Tiote (£3.5m)
    MC - Cabaye (£4.5)
    MR - Obertan (£3m)
    AMC - Ben Arfa (£6.5)
    S - Ba (Free)

    Subs:
    Harper (Free)
    Williamson (£1m)
    Taylor (Free)
    Guthrie (£2.5m)
    Marveaux (Free)
    Sameobi (Free)
    Best (£2m)

    First XI = £36.7m
Entire first XI and subs = £42.2m

Aye <laugh> but last season when we only had Lovenkrands and Ranger available there were people desperate enough to want him to play!

    Yes i would.

Hes went elsewhere to earn 4 times as much as he did at NUFC to do the same job elsewhere. Nothing wrong there in my eyes because everyone on here would do the same.

Club loyalty has been dead a long time now. Money talks. I would take Andy back rather than see best and Ameobi up front in the new year.....

He got a payrise to something like £40kpw and then asked for another payrise a few months later, to £80kpw. I think he's on £90kpw at Liverpool. The kid got greedy.... and it worked out for him!

I don't think he'd suit our current style of play and for sure I wouldn't want us centred around him again when we've got such a good spine going on with the team. He's a good player horribly out of form but not worth the £10m+ we'd have to fork out for him. Reckon he'd suit Stoke. <ok>

The day after he signed for Scouse for £35mil, I said he will considered 'a flop' due to the ridiculous fee paid for him, and will be back at our place on loan come January.

Unfortunately, Llambias decided to make up bullsh*t in giving Carroll a bad name after he left which scuppered any move back in the future possible. The useless arrogant pr*ck.

I'd take him back in a heart beat, but its not gonna happen.

And i'm sure the Carroll haters will welcome him staying away from St James'. Nice work again Llambias.

If Chelsea hadn't paid £50m for Torres, Liverpool wouldn't have been so desparate for Carroll. They may have offered £8m-£12m (about what he was worth at the time) but we would have rejected and I don't think anyone would have been gutted as Liverpool wouldn't have the Torres-sized gap in the wagebill to offer Carroll such a big contract and probably wouldn't have bettered the £40k we were giving him, or at least not by much.

Because Liverpool were heavy in cash, we were able to milk them for what we got. Had he moved for about £10m there'd be less pressure on him and he'd be easier to sell on. As it stands, accepting anything less than £20m for him will be outrageous for Liverpool but any club that can afford that kind of price already have better strikers.

I think the only possibility would be Spurs, but if his pricetag were smaller he'd have a much wider choice of clubs to potentially move to for first team football. Joining the likes of Stoke or Everton would be an excellent career move for him (the Newcastle bridge is burnt) but Liverpool's reckless overvaluation of him means he's stuck where he is unless they wish to make a crippling loss.

Happy to have him back anytime, he's a class striker for me. But the terms would have to be good for us. Certainly better than anything we have in the striker department currently for me, and would fit nicely into our style of play.

But the kicker will always be the wages, he's on like 90k and we don't pay those kinds of wages. We don't even pay half that so I can't see it happening.
