Personally, I don't think it is the system that messed up Torres. Remember he declined whilst in a tactical system built to get the best out of him. It's all about confidence, and his is wrecked so bad (due to injuries and L'pools poor form) that he can't seem to build any form. Something similar has happened with Carroll, he has never had a run of games (has he even started consecutive prem games for L'pool?) and with his groin injuries also restricting him, he has lost his confidence.

It's like groundhog day in here...

Seriously I wouldn't have him. At the moment we're a top half team, its not our job to try to revitalize the form of rival clubs players. Back fulltime? It'd have to be a bloody good deal, because the way he's playing (plus talk of too much drinking and a potential new diet!) means he's worth peanuts at the moment.

A third of £75 million is 25 million, and our starting XI cost about 22 million combined.

was cost as pointed out below. By half their bench i was referring to the 3 players in question (60% of the bench i know but close) therefore cost of our first team £25m, think was pointed out on another thread that it was £22m or £26 depending on how you took in raylors cost <ok>

He has a great head, good left foot and is yet to reach his peak for a player of his stature. He's only 22. <ok>

    Colo - 10m
    Obertan - 3m
    Ben Arfa - 5m
    Cabaye - 4m
    Tiote - 3.5m
    Simpson - 500k

I get 26m and that's not including Raylor or Guiti (didn't we have to pay like 5m for him in the end?).

The maths I can manage! I read 'half' and 'three times' which would have made 1/6 which would have been 12.5m. I see that I misread the post though.......

I'd be happy if he came back.

As mentioned he's great in the air, has a good left foot and will get better as he's only 22.

I'd hope that our style of play we have now wouldn't be changed to incorporate him in the squad though. I really like how we play.

But he is clearly not playing anywhere near as well as he was when he was 21, is he showing signs of getting back to that level?

I got £22m from our most used XI, depends which players you choose. Is it even possible to assemble 11 of our players who total £35m?

    I'd take Carroll.

He is not a bright lad and doesn't have a strong personality. Put him in a foreign environment liek Liverpool and he flounders.

He's also a beast. IF he could feel at home again, he would be back to creating havoc in the opponent's penalty area for Ba and/or HBSA to exploit. He'd also knock in a few himself.

As for making peace with the fans, a simple "I'm sorry but you don't knpw hoe confusing it can be to suddenly be told your the most valuable English player ever. I let my head be turned but now realise what I left behind". That and a hat trick and all will be forgiven

To be honest, most games he has started he has either scored or gave a MOTM performance. But when he comes on as a sub he has little or no impact (usually because he comes on with 5 mins left). But you can see his confidence in the air seems to have gone, at Newcastle he would rise above any defender (like the goal at the Emirates). He doesn't do that for us, though it could be down to the service he gets. So far Downing has been poor. <ok>

Well, yeah, I think we know this already, he was our player for like 5 years <laugh>

You've gotta admit though. He's not looked anywhere near the player that he was for us, has he?

No, as I said in my other post the service he gets doesn't suit him and our style of play is different to how you guys played last year. Not sure if your style of play now would suit him as much as last year either. Hope you guys beat the mancs tomorrow. <ok>

    Most expensive NUFC XI:

    Elliot (0.5)
    Simpson (0.5) Williamson (1) Colo (10) Santon (6)
    Obertan (3) Cabaye (4.5) Tiote (3.5) Jonas (3)
    HBA (6.5) Best (2)

Total: £40.5m, or have I forgotten someone obvious?

thread is somewhere else, but think £26 mil was total without including raylors P/E. Either way we have built a great team on the cheap. Colo is by far our most expensive player (2x!)

But on the original thread. Think Carrol would be a disruptive influence. Still a quality player but think we're a better unit without him

(wouldnt mind him as an impact sub though!)
