The Irish assistant manager Marco Tardelli mentioned Hoolahan, Pilkington and Martin(?) yesterday as possible includees in the set-up for the Euro Finals next summer.
Wes in particular has been notable by his absence from the squad so far, but the way Trappatoni sets up the team wouldn't suit him so he may not feature. Pity, good player, and a former Shels man like myself.

You get the feeling that Trappatoni doesn't really fancy Hoolahan. As you say it may be simply the way Trappatoni sets up, but I'd have thought he'd have had a look at him before now as he'd add something a bit different to the squad. The form of Tierney and Pilkington though, must have them banging on the door so loud that Trapp's' ears are ringing! Both look like they've been in the top flight for years.
I hope I've not just talked up a couple of shocking performances for the weekend... :emoticon-0107-sweat

Yes, Trap's motto is " I will pick those I picked for the last game unless their legs are broken"
He has many detractors here, but getting to the finals is a great achievement.

Getting back to tomorrows game, no result would surprise me, but Norwich have got to be favourites, just like Stoke, Chelsea and Everton were against us!

QPR manager Neil Warnock insists his team are capable of coping without Joey Barton against Norwich.

Barton will miss Saturday’s game at Carrow Road through suspension, with Shaun Derry expected to be given the nod to replace him when Warnock makes a final decision on his line-up.

Warnock said: “We know it’s going to be difficult without Joey, but you’ve got to expect that [suspensions] at some stage with him.

“It’s an opportunity for someone. It opens the door. We need somone to come in and keep things going for us. We’ve a couple of options we’re looking at.”

Striker Jay Bothroyd has been passed fit to return after missing last weekend’s victory at Stoke because of a hamstring strain, while Heidar Helguson is likely to be available after picking up a facial injury during that game.

Fitz Hall also returns to the squad but Luke Young and Danny Gabbidon have not trained this week and look likely to miss out.

Meanwhile, Matt Connolly has resumed full training after an ankle problem and Kieron Dyer, who has been sidelined since August with a foot injury, is on course to train with the rest of the R’s squad next week.

Norwich's defensive problems are easing but Russell Martin is again expected to deputise in central defence.

Zak Whitbread, Daniel Ayala and Ritchie de Laet are all back in training but not yet ready for first-team action.

QPR will be without suspended captain Joey Barton after he picked up a fifth booking of the season last week.

In-form striker Heidar Helguson has been passed fit, but Luke Young and Danny Gabbidon are ruled out.

MATCH PREVIEW

The top two in last season's Championship meet for the first time in the Premier League since 1995; and fans of both will be delighted with how their teams have fared so far this season. QPR come into the weekend in ninth place, with Norwich in 11th, two points behind their opponents.

The Canaries' last victory came the last time I was at Carrow Road

The previous six Premier League meetings saw 26 goals scored, with the majority coming at Carrow Road: it was 4-3 to QPR in March 1994 and 4-2 to Norwich in October of the same year. Hopefully this weekend's match will see as much action, and certainly QPR will be encouraged by the fact that Norwich have yet to keep a clean sheet this season.

The Canaries' most recent victory came the last time I was at Carrow Road for Match of the Day, when they defeated Swansea, the other team promoted from the Championship last May. This will actually be my third visit to Norwich this season but it will be my first live viewing of QPR since they won at Watford at the end of April to seal promotion.

I'm interested to see how Rangers will fare without their influential skipper Joey Barton, who is suspended for this match after collecting five bookings, and they have a long injury list as well. Indeed, Neil Warnock was only able to name five substitutes for last Saturday's 3-2 win at Stoke after reserve keeper Brian Murphy was injured in the warm up and Jason Puncheon had to be sent home after he went down with tonsillitis.

That victory at Stoke was QPR's third away win in the Premier League this season, but they have conceded eight goals in their last three matches; food for thought for Steve Morison, who has scored in each of Norwich's last three matches. I'm expecting an entertaining game with several goals, but hopefully there won't be any as controversial as Blackburn's second at Wigan last weekend; one of the most bizarre moments in my commentary career.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

Norwich are undefeated in their last three matches against QPR, winning two and drawing the other.
QPR's last win at Carrow Road was a 1-0 victory in September 2008, thanks to a Martin Rowlands free-kick. It is their only win in their last eight trips.
QPR have had a player sent off in each of their last three visits to Carrow Road.
Norwich

City are in danger of suffering three straight league defeats for the first time since the end of the 2008/09 season.
The Canaries are yet to keep a clean sheet so far this term, an unwanted feat only Blackburn can match.
Norwich are the only team to have led in two Premier League matches this season but ultimately gone on to lose.
Steve Morison can become the first Canaries player to score in four successive Premier League matches. He currently shares the record with Chris Sutton and Dean Ashton.
QPR

Three of QPR's four league wins to date have come in away matches. Only Manchester City (five), Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool (all four) have won more.
Only the bottom three sides have conceded more than Neil Warnock's men (22). It's their equal most at this stage of a Premier League season, level with the 1994/95 campaign.
The next goal scored by a Rangers player will be their 100th league goal under Warnock's management.
The last three QPR league matches have generated 14 goals.

****ing bollocks,Young and Gabbidon ruled out.Does this mean Orr and One Size back in,Orr ain't the best but Fitz is not up to it,even if doesn't do his hamstring again during the match i can see Morison or Holt murdering him.I would much rather have Hill playing at Centre-Half,could be fun watching him tussle with Holt!

Football's a funny game. We beat Everton away, albeit with them missing a sitter and hitting the bar, with a much worse team than the one we'll be putting out tomorrow even if none of those play. If those 3 are all out, and that's by no means guaranteed, I think a team of

...........Kenny
Orr....Ferdinand....Hill....Traore

Mackie..Derry...Faurlin...SWP
..............Buzsaky..........

............Helguson.........

can still cause plenty of problems, and that's assuming Bothroyd is out.
