The fact we had Doyle, Neil, Broadhead and Clarke on the bench all players who have proven themselves in the championship since that day I would say they would beat our line up today. I'll go as far as to say the only improvement from today's line up in my opinion is Hume for Wright. Granted some of those from the playoff final are still here and older and better than they were then but in the main that team is stronger than today's.

Edit Ballard is also an improvement but 2 form 9 ain't great

I have to say though, not replacing Stewart effectively is such a massive **** up. That’s buying the wrong people. The rest I can live with.,

Replacing Stewart would have cost more that we could afford. Some people seem to think there is a conveyor belt of talented strikers just waiting for a chance to play for us.

I don't have any problem with our recruitment policy or the players we've signed, they are better than this. My problem is how we're using them and Dodds, I'm sick of him ****ing about with the team and failing to see what's staring him in the face. All he had to do was start the same team that finished the game against Leicester but no, he dicks about with it. Burstow FFS, why man. Why.

I wish we'd stuck with Beale until the end of the season, little doubt in my mind we'd be better off. What we're experiencing now is in part a result of our fans hounding him out of the club so well done for that <applause>

Been out for food. So just caught the post match there.

Lord have mercy. Is anyone embarrassed or is it just me. It's like a person who is completely unfit for the position. Totally out of depth, shrinking every time they speak.

    Need to sort it out

Replacing Stewart should have been done when we had Stewart. We risked having one striker, bullshitting about Dajaku and positional fluency. I take your point about the last window but it’s been our recruitment teams ongoing blind spot.

Speakman also has a good list mind just less so in the last 18 month. That was Tony’s 1 out of 1.

I keep hearing this "blind spot" bullshit but it's been proven the world over that signing strikers is the hardest job of the lot. The recruitment team can only spend what the owner provides them Everyone blaming Speakman, but it's KLD providing the money. People then will blame KLD and seem desperate for us to mortgage the farm on promotion only to blame him further when we fail and are hamstrung by FFP

The bullshit I’m hearing is defending our lack of striking options

Sleepwalking to league 1 here, desperately need 6 points out the next 4 games. It’s the random team selections for me; why Barstow and ba after not seeing them 2-3 games? Why AA not starting after impressing midweek. Need to get over the line and write this sorry season off

He had a good window the January we were in League one when we brought in Baath, Roberts and Clarke on loan then a good window the first summer in the championship with signing Clarke permanent signing Ballard permanent and 1 fantastic loan with Amad and 1 ok loan with Simms who I still maintain is poor but give him his dues he got 7 or 8 goals for us in half a season.

The 3 windows after that however have been worse than woeful and I honestly don't think any sane human being could argue with that.

I'm not sure why that seems funny to you. Whilst I think it's a slight over exaggeration and I'm 99% sure we will pick up another 6 or 7 points and stay up the posters concern is a bloody real one at the minute

I'm defending the club when people make ridiculous statements suggesting the recruitment team can't or won't sign strikers when the finances simply aren't there.

We could lose every game until the end of the season and won't finish bottom 6

I completely agree and I've been very patient with the approach of signing young kids from all over Europe who have barely kicked a ball in the hope they will develop into valuable and quality players however I think we are now at a point where we can say it's not currently working and going forward if we lose Clarke (100%) Ballard (50-75%) and Neil (30-50%) we really are up **** creek if the current recruitment strategy continues and we will be relegated to League one in 15 months time.

The only players who can be labelled as successful under this recruitment system have come from within the UK if we are to continue with this we need to be looking 100% at home grown but by god we need a few experienced heads to help these kids out.

Very bold statement considering Stoke are currently 19th and 6 points behind us with 27 still to play for. I agree we could in theory lose every game and still stay up but I wouldn't be confident in that happening.
