It’s a massive money making scheme and it’s not being directly reinvested into improving infrastructure. Glasgows LEZ is making millions. Glasgow’s roads in certain places are almost undriveable with no suitable and reliable public transportation in place . I have had 3 punctures in past 6 months due to potholes . Im waiting to see the LTNs when the replace the nice Planters / flower boxes .
It had met the air index targets required using existing measures in place before the LEZ with fines was implemented . the Council then put the air monitors to areas where the air doesn’t flow as freely - tunnels , under bridges etc to justify the LEZ The Glasgow LEZ has some of the most expensive fines in UK but council vechiles have extended exemptions . The air quality index has not improved - in some places even worsened. The city centre is on its arse .It used to be vibrant , it’s now run down with the nighttime economy dying . So, what do they do, increase parking prices and extend the charges from 6 am to 6pm to 6am to 10pm. Nightime bus services cut. A train service that isn’t reliable and a subway system that’s serves about 25% of the glasgow population. Glasgow will be an entertainment wasteland within 5 years -filled with student housing and offices .
