Calling all Scottish Toon fans. I know there ain't many of us on here but thought I would post this just incase.

I was pricing up travel, hotel and tickets for the Man Utd game at home on 04/01/12 and found it was cheap as chips. Unfortunately it looks like I will be moving house on the 5th and can't take advantage of the offer (need to settle for sky coverage and beer at home). This is too good to be true:

    Hotel: 1 night,Gateshead Travelodge- £12
Train: Return for Edinburgh to Newcastle - £21.60
    Ticket for game:£40

Thats £73.60 for travel, hotel and tickets. A total snip to watch us challenge the current title holders at SJP. Just thought I would share the joy and sit feeling sorry for myself as I can't take up this glorious offer!!!

Hope someone can make use of this!!!

That has to be the cheapest I've ever seen a Travelodge. They're often about 50 quid for a single if memory serves right.

Ive stayed in there a couple of times mate, nice and clean and a pretty good location. I tend to stay just wherever has the best offers. The jury's inn for £100 for 2 nights a couple of years ago was the best I got!!!

£12 is exceptional value for anybody that is travelling to the game. Makes it that much easier to stay over and celebrate a magnificent win over the reds.

If your called Jesus its fine you can book a room without having a Mary. If you are called Joseph you need to have an other half called Mary. So technically Jesus is a Geordie could book a room for free!!

What a ****ing random post!!! <laugh>

That's just so bloody unfair, my name's Herod and the Travelodge in Bethlehem charged me 1,000,000 shekels for a one night stay and that was over 2000 years ago.

Maybe if you get Salome to dance for them they'll let you stay for free.

I would bite your hand off for those prices - if I didnt live in Newcastle and ave a season ticket.

Thats the cheapest footy day around.

Excellent prices, would love to go to the match but train would cost about £100.

Totally mate. If I wasn't potentially moving house,i would be booking straight away. I paid £80 for travel and tickets to the 5under1and game last season and that was down and back in the same day.

They frequently do promotions where they sell so many rooms for £10/£12/£15/other low amount.
