What if you are white, but say you identify as black. It seems you can identify as whatever you like nowadays and if people don't accept it then they are some form of "ist".

 

well was thinking more of people of mixed race who really don't look "black" Meghan Markle being a well known example .

Well, say you called someone with dwarfism a short-arsed idiot - that would be considered a prejudicial insult. They might well have done or said something foolish, but their height isn't relevant. The point is that any qualifier that refers to a feature of the person is designed to increase the insult and therefore becomes an insult in itself.

 

Imo, yes. It's the negative that is the issue, not the descriptive term.

Well this is what I’m trying to work out

Why is calling someone a white idiot or black idiot the same level of insult? But calling someone a short idiot not?

In my opinion there are levels to it. Short people arent as discriminated against compared to black people but they are more so than an averages height white person.

so this is my point. I don’t think calling someone a white idiot is any more offensive than saying they’re an idiot because generally white people aren’t discriminated against.

if putting any adjective infront makes it equally worse no matter the discrimination they have faced now and in the past, then we should be calling out every single person that uses any kind of descriptive language that’s personal to that person in the same way the way it’s done when black is used in a racial way.

Brighton just hit one of those spells since the turn of the year. Defence has been poor all season. Constantly rotating keeper can’t be helping but having to manage europe and the prem has taken its toll on the squad it seems. No real consistency.
