Can't see why they would. None of the players nor the management team were even born when he was playing. Older fans yes
The club has said that there will be Stan memorial activities, and to be fair I think they have done a good, respectful job around his death so far, really understand his importance to many of us. Whatever is done officially, the whole stadium will be singing on 10 minutes. It was spine tingling on Saturday at Leicester with just 3000 of us. Tomorrow could be very moving indeed.
From the Offish ON WEDNESDAY night, QPR will remember the great Stan Bowles when we host West Bromwich Albion at MATRADE Loftus Road. Bowles, arguably our finest ever player, passed away on Saturday 24th February at the age of 75 following a long period living with Alzheimer’s. Our fixture against the Baggies is our first in W12 since the sad news, and we will be paying tribute to ‘Stan the Man’ in the following ways: The QPR players will be wearing ‘Bowles 10’ shirts when they come out of the tunnel instead of their usual walk-out jackets A fan mosaic will be on show the entire length of the Stanley Bowles Stand, with the wording ‘Bowles 10’ We will be joined by the following members of our famous 1975/76 side, who shared a pitch with Bowles: Ron Abbott, Gerry Francis, Ian Gillard, Frank McLintock, Phil Nutt, Don Shanks & Dave Thomas We are also honoured to be joined by Bowles’ son Carl and two of his grandchildren Shanks, Bowles’ close friend, will join Carl in laying a wreath on the centre circle just before kick-off There will follow a period of applause as the stadium remembers the great Stan Bowles The QPR players’ home shirts will carry an Alzheimer’s Society logo. These will be auctioned with all funds raised donated to Alzheimer’s Society A special edition of HOOPS - QPR's official matchday programme - has been produced to honour Stan. We've an exclusive, feature-length interview with Stan's former manager Gordon Jago At half-time, the '75/76 heroes will join us on the pitch and we will hear from Francis and Shanks on behalf of the group It is sure to be a very emotional occasion as we remember a true QPR legend. Gone, but never, ever to be forgotten.
Let's hope those ****s at Sky actually show some of this instead of some no-mark waffling on about how great West Brom are...
Yeh, scored for us, as a 17 year old I think, in the 1-1 draw with Derby in December 1975. He suffered a career ending cruciate injury a bit later and became a black cab driver.
Yep +1 First job I ever had his mum was the boss's PA. Didn't he have to retire very young due to injury?
I’m getting nervous about tonight, after Saturday I’m expecting a win but I know this is the championship and we are QPR anything can happen.
