He does seem to be a fan of the slightly unusual formation. I think he's maybe trying too hard to make an impression. He's undoubtedly a good coach so he should probably relax a bit and not overthink it too much.

Apart from Hume they count as homegrown players which adds to their final value

All of those players stood out as likely to succeed when you dig down, they just needed game time in the EFL

At West Ham Alese played the full 90 minutes of a 5–1 EFL cup third round victory against Hull City in 2020. He was capped at England U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 level. Had loan spells at Accrington Stanley and Cambridge

Cirkin capped at England U16, U17, U18 and U20 level

Huggins capped at Wales U20, trained under and rated by Bielsa

Hume capped at Northern Ireland U17, U19, U21, stood out in NIFL

To be fair it's really difficult with the kind of player we're trying to find.

There's a 6'2" PL striker who's played in the first team, capped by England U20 and rated by Pochettino, just what we need ...

... his name is Burstow and signing him permanently would've been a disaster imo.

He's probably got some fine ideas, but when the game starts and we're getting attacked at pace it'll be hard for the players to remember what they are. The opposition loves to see confusion and there's been plenty of it.

The players seem to like Dodds and they still look up for it. As you say if we stop trying to be clever, and play to our strengths we can have a decent rest of the season.

Not convinced that he's got the personality to be a manager.

Another failure!! We’re certainly good at attracting them.

It’s a Big Fat NO from me.

I just want someone who has a clue tactically, any clue at all would be better than none. Dodds starting team selection for his setup yesterday made absolutely no sense. Lets play without wingers but start the match with two players up front who will 100% not chase a loose ball...aye, great plan.

Although we are a big club some managers will be put off by the seeming rigidity of the setup and the reluctance to sign anyone who has experience. Until that is tweaked I really think we will struggle to appoint a top manager, along with the club refusing to pay any compensation for a manager of course. I'm also still very concerned with the input that Speakman may have on team selection, his interview a while ago when he mentioned it being a group discussion massively set alarm bells ringing for me.

Any half decent manager who is allowed to get on with things should be able to get a tune out of our squad, even if we are lacking up front. I'm absolutely certain of that.

Danny Röhl has done an absolutely phenomenal job at Sheffield Wednesday so I’d definitely be considering him.

I listened to What the Falk podcast recently and they mentioned managers who had bits of success here and the type of "**** you" kind of attitude that got the club and brought the fans and club closer together as one, the likes of Reid, Allardyce, Keane and Neil to an extent. I might even class Mowbray in with that type as well. I don't think OGS had those kind of credentials.

I like what Cooper did with Forest with the way he put a team together with having players thrown at him by the owner but not sure if he would totally galvanise the club like the others but he would be my choice

Cooper and Rohl would be my favourites but he will keep sheff wed up and think he’d be mad to leave somewhere he is worshipped

If we persist with this model in the foreign market, I think employing a bilingual coach and/or staff might make sense to benefit some players in getting up to speed and integrating quicker than they are currently. Just feels like there's been a lack of cohesion with some of the recent signings, and the process of bedding them in requires more patience than we can afford when we have injuries and results end up suffering.

I think he has a higher average win rate that any of our managers in recent memory. Don’t know if he’d be successful or not but if stats are anything to go by he’d be an improvement on most of what has went before him.
