Was it, sorry. Either way, very harsh to blame Max imo. Credit to Ipswich, they kept at it and got what they needed. Enjoyed the second half for the first time in quite a while..
The game changed after 60 minutes when they stopped tippy tappy to playing earlier and longer, especially in the IR channel. Burns had Pring on toast. Shame really we did well, battled hard and deserved a point.
A heartbreak loss in a thrilling second half but we go home with nothing other than pride in our response I suppose. Max must be ticked off after saving what was really a poorly taken penalty followed by a couple of brilliant saves because he, despite a couple of errors, probably deserved better from those in front of him. I still don't see any shining light for our long term future and there weren't many out there that should stay for next season where we will sell our best and go back to the start with rookies and lower league hopefuls. We could have put this game to bed but bad luck and poor finishing didn't help our cause but never the less a reasonable performance against a promotion contender. Two goals in the last 10 minutes were shades of yesteryear that still haunt us in the win column.
Well a result we all expected-but city did well first half in keeping Ipswich quiet Second half Ipswich were by far the more dangerous side looked far more dangerous than us going forward and wanted it more come the end. defiantly not a penalty Pring touched the ball first-justified by max saving it.. well we have 4 losses in a row with another tough game against Swansea Sunday. Still 6 points of relagation which is a bonus-nobody getting points on us.
wells is finished for me that was a open goal and crashes it against the post. Thought Memeti had a very good game best in a long long while.
One thing I am impressed with.. We don’t try to sit on a lead. We do try and go for it.. much prefer losing, going for it than sitting back and losing
We can stop good team playing well. Our problem, the hardest thing in football, is to create and score. We need.......quality this summer and to get the bloody thing forward quicker.
I 'm not going to moan about that, they showed real effort against a top side in our league, hard luck but well done. I notice a certain individual has disappeared under his rock again.
Mehmeti had his best game tonight, hope we see more from him. For 2 of their goals Max tries to save like an outfielder not a goalkeeper, his kicking was poor tonight.
Can’t believe anyone is blaming Max for the defeat. Main culprits are Nakhi, for his miss and Vyner for giving away an unnecessary free kick, the guy was going nowhere with his back to goal! Very frustrated tonight, should have got at least a point, maybe more.
It was of Mehmeti's better games tonight but overall he hasn't produced enough for me to be here next season. Cornick is in the same league along with Wells and yet on one play tonight they combined well which ended up in a noble header by Nakhi that just missed the mark. looking at all positions I think we are many bricks short of a competitive load but we almost need to go back to square one again and get players in who actually fit the mould and know how to play the game at Championship level. We will never succeed in getting to what ever planet Lansdown wants us to land on but the quality in all departments has to be upped in a serious way, and when I say that I mean right from the top down to the tea lady. Professionals both off and on the field of play have to be hired followed by releasing the grip that certain people have on decision making and handing it over solely to the ones who have been hired to do a specific job without interference. The CEO has to be a well rounded football management specialist (not cricket or basketball) and has to lead the way with the help of the manager (not coach) in the selection of targets and everything else that is necessary to produce a product that people actually want to watch. Obviously there has to be oversight by the owners but until the strings are released by them to allow the top professionals they have hired to do the job in their individual way then there is no redemption. I truly believe we have everything in place to become a contender, including a top class stadium, but all of that has basically been wasted by the Lansdowns in their craving for control along with the hysterical decisions they have collectively made over too many years. Of course expecting that scenario to play out is insanity at it's worst but maybe one day they will wake up and see things our way but my advice is to not hold your breath too long. P.S. Liam's after match comments are starting to sound all too familiar and extremely negative but he is actually commenting on the same deficiencies as many managers from our past, so clearly nothing changes but the boss on the sidelines.
We did far better than I expected, but sounds like the same old traits on display. Not taking chances and giving goals away etc. But it's another defeat and we still need 8-9 points to be safe
The player should have been better supported by his team mates. Formation time. It was 4-2-3-1. That is four defenders and two players in defensive midfield. Last night the game opens right out and Pring is left 1v1. The system should mean the full back has support, and they double up versus the wide player. Pring got rinsed because the team put him in a position to be rinsed.
He has had his chances needs to move on-personally for me never done it here in his time when arriving from Burnley- the front line in no where near top championship level-needs a complete overhaul. Not sure if that will be under Manning or the next yes man. Lose Sunday LM is going to be on borrowed time. with WBA and Leicester afterwards.
