He - like few of them - wants to be a baller who can take plenty of touches and ping some Hollywood passes. He's not a defensive midfielder, I'm not even convinced he's an 8. Too much of a liability in CM for me right now. How we miss Evans...
It's not critical. It's ****e defending. To lose 2 air battles like that with the 6 yard box is rank defending.
Agree Worky. As I watched it on the red button yesterday I decided to watch Ekwah. Now I know he didn't have a great game but his space management in the middle of the park is atrocious. So many times he was in no-mans land not picking anyone up and then strolls back when Leicester attacked. Also when he receives the ball the amount of time he will do a slow 360 and then pass on the ball. The complete opposite of what Riggy was doing. Chasing back, I know some of his long passes didn't work out but you could see what he was trying. Also thought Dan Neil had a quite game. But I would try a middle three against Southampton of Rigg - Onien - Neil. With O'Nein sitting deeper as the DM A better 2nd half though.
Well I've slept on it as I didn't want to knee jerk last night. Take out first 20 mins and it was a pretty even game that I thought we deserved something out of. The game confirmed for me that we cannot play Ekwah and Jobe in the same midfield, it's one or the other. We looked so much better once we brought our subs on and started to look forward rather looking not to concede. There is a balance to be struck between a high press and passive defence but quite honestly I'd rather lose a game by trying to win it rather than by trying not to lose it. Obviously that comes with the comment that I'd rather not lose at all. I hope that we are brave for the rest of the season, give Rigg and Adil game time as I think that they will repay us next season with better performances. At the moment I'm torn between playing Hemir or Rusyn up top as I think Rusyn would make the better runs and be found by Adil but I'd also like to see Rusyn on the left whilst Clarke is unfit. Mentioning Clarke, if he had played last night I think we would definitely have got something out of the game as id have backed him against Choudary On to Saturday and hopefully a better 90 minute performance. Strangely, for that game id probably go back to playing without a CF, but with pace out wide and flood the midfield, but hey what do I know, it's all about opinions, isn't it?
One of the replies to the Ballard incident on Twitter reckoned the defender tripped him. Looking again, the defender might have stood on Ballard’s trailing ankle / foot, hence going down like he did. It’s hard to tell on the replays because you almost need a close-up, slow mo. Edit:
Realistically we dont have any other option. Yes, I know we could play Hume at CB and Pembele at RB, but, as I said realistically... It will be interesting to see how it pans out
