These promoted teams really are terrible.

Getting to the stage where even the standout of the previous years Championship are just cannon fodder for PL teams.

3-0 in 15mins. Sheff U fans might as well just go home cause this is going to be a big one.

Yes, it is particularly bad that the recently promoted teams are so bad they can't finish above Everton even after Everton got points dropped. Hopefully next year's batch will be good enough to get them relegated... <laugh>

That goal difference is super important this year... three teams duking it out- chances of GD deciding the winner greater than normal.

Sky Germany reporting Bayern opened talks with alonso and that he doesn’t want to go liverpool as klopp legacy is too good that he can’t win.

Sounds absolute bs to me. 1, why would alonso even contemplate discussions with another team now (I get his agent maybe doing most of it, but I feel he is just 100% focussed on winning the league).

and 2, seems very unsure if your own ability if you’re scared to go to a club cos of the previous manager. Think Alonso has far more self belief than that

bayern would never ever seek to unsettle thier new league title rival in desperation.

    that'd never happen

That's what I was getting at the other week, big shoes to fill.

Definitely Bayern just trying to rock the boat

Obviously. On the other hand, he inherits the legacy of those big feet. Well run club with a recent history of success, strong first team squad with a host of quality academy players looking to step up.
Plus a fanbase that loves him from his time here.
I can't think of anyone better suited to take over - though I did expect Lijnders would be the one to take over and keep continuity.

If he wins he'll obviously get the plaudits but there will always be the 'someone else built it' aspect.

It's irrelevant really, it's the situation we're in no matter who takes over (and I'm sure most of us would prefer it the way it is)

Shankly built the club up, dragged it out of the doldrums and we all had misgivings about Paisley taking over - but he made his own success and ultimately no-one thought of him as riding on that of his predecessor.
Klopp is a hard act to follow - an impossible one perhaps - no-one can emulate him so whoever comes next will have to do things their own way.
It's the end of an era and we have to make a new one.
Hopefully with a post-Shankly Paisley, not a post-Fergie succession of failures.

Fair enough, I'll take your word for it since you've experienced this situation before and I haven't <ok>

It's only a hope, not a prediction. I've said all along I worry what will happen to us when Klopp leaves and I still feel that way. Xabi is an unknown quantity and (assuming he is the one, of course) he'll have a mountain to climb. But, he'll have the support of the fans and a club that's in decent shape.

As you say, the new manager comes into a very healthy setup and an excellent squad of players, ideal for building for a period of success and adding trophies to their CV.

Can't see many managers recovering from that situation if it goes tits up though, it'll destroy any reputation they've managed to build.

I reckon we've already chosen and agreed terms with a new manager but it won't be announced until the season is over.

Impossible to tell the future, but the club is in impeccable shape and whoever takes over couldn't ask for a better club to run.

Great current players, great future players. Ability to perform and win, but perhaps not the same expectation or pressure as City, Real, or Bayern M do (if you don't win you're a failure).

I wasn't around for Shankly, but I believe our club may look more like what Paisley inherited from him than it does the club Moyes inherited from SAF (who we could all see was in dire need of a rebuild despite SAFs ability to win one more title out of them).

Still, if a manager isn't up for the task he could still duck it up... But I'm more confident now than I was 12 months ago.

It is weird that Luton, of the three promoted sides, are the most competent. I guess the other two were just better against inferior sides in the championship.

    Yes, its absolute bollocks.

and if true (very big if), we would not want someone who is afraid of the challenge anyway.
