They can't use that same approach any more, there are richer teams in the league that can afford to pay the referees more nowadays
I'm curious, how many of these names we were linked with, who have failed to live up to expectations after going elsewhere, Klopp would have made into stars? Would they have flopped with us, or would Loop have made them good.
no. there's a reason klopp didn't want him. klopp buys who he wants. you can see how Szoboszlai would suit him perfectly. you.can see how gravenberch suits him you can even sort of see why endo suited him as a last resort aromatic is even slower that endo.
But the pair that went to Chelsea. Presumably Klopp wanted them. They're not doing well at Chelsea. Have to wonder if we really did dodge a bullet or would they have been better with Klopp.
I presume we had some approval by klopp to bid yes. maybe not given the fee but I assume they were bid on with hisnapproval and then the moeny mens approval to a number (in lavia's case) lavia got injured, that's just it. nothing bit bad luck there. caicedo would be a bad error as compared him to either macca or endo. both men stand up in good position and make blocks rather than go diving in with one foot. the amount of times you see them just get close and put their feet together and the opponent can't get it by them. just blocks it out. caicedo just throws himself in full bore and doesn't care what he hits. even endo is producing good passes forward for us.
I don't think we wanted Caicedo, it was just games imo. We wanted Lavia but he got caught up in it all and then followed the money instead. Glad we didn't get either now but can't help wonder how different it would have been (for us and him) had Lavia joined us instead
we wanted him for what we paid for gravenberch. we got 2 players for the price Chelsea paid for lavia. remember when we get value in these senior transfer we can also go invest in more youth. like for example.a clark at 1.5mil or a carvalho or and Elliott.
Utd under Ferguson had a style of play that once it started to win things allowed Ferguson to buy 1 or 2 players a season to keep it going and rejuvenate the team. Tin Hat has spent hundreds of millions and is probably worse than when he arrived.
He did look ****ed,that fall to the turf when away from Walker said alot. There is a lack of confidence there but I think the problems are more than that. Hasn't been right for a long time.
I see Citeh's next league game after next weekend is the Arsenal game at the Etihad, last day of March. We are at home to Brighton on the same afternoon. Something is going to shift this month.
He’s a playboy, it’s well known around some circles, he has been for some time and even though he’s lost his drinking partners he’s still at it…..he loves the high life and it shows.
Thought united actually looked like they had some kind of game plan that was massively helped by wonder goal ( which seems like a fluke given rashford a previous performances this season and the rest of his performance in this game). Unfortuntately, city responded with a brilliant strike on their own and then was just poor play from casemiro and Onana to let united in - albeit Haaland should have also scored before that anyway with the tap in. But they did what they did against us away from home. Parked the bus, sat deep and compact and didn’t let any spaces. It was a very much small team.m v big team performance which is funny when look at the team names but makes sense when see performances. Unfortunately city managed to score a wonder goal to break the deadlock where as we couldn’t get that first and from then just wore them down. Despite fact it was horrible watxh and park the bus at least it was some sort of tactic rather than telling 11 players go out there and do what you want and get dicked 6-0 by having 4 defenders, 30 yard gap to midfield followed by 30 yard gap to the front 4.
utd got the dream.goal but couldn't keep it going. you are right though. no inferior manager should want to get stuffed by their fans noisy neighbours and keeping the gaps between lines tight and deep laying is the way to do that. I sincerely doubt any manc fan is calling for heads today but if they did a repeat of 7-0 against us it'd be very loud. they are looking up at 5th spot with envy imo that's the sum total of their ambition now in the league and unfortunately we have to go to theirs in the Cup.
All the teams above utd have got a least a point against City this season. I feel that is symbolic of where they are this season.
Their tactics were fine for 15 mins but after that they stopped showing any threat though why McTominay was at CF is beyond me
please log in to view this image https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-manchester-68465745 first this is no acceptable behaviour and at least some form of stewarding and policing was found to be effective in identifying there person second this is absolutely not acceptable segregation. that's a ridiculous amount of wasted resources instead of creating a proper separate zone.
I think the only way to beat City is to take the game to them. If you just try to contain them they almost always find a way through. Unfortunately not many teams are good enough to take them on their own terms - some try and get lucky, some try and get stuffed. If the limit of your ambition is to try and hold them you're likely to fail, but that's where Utd are atm - limited in ambition and quality.
IMO you are largely right. You have to gamble to take any points. If you look at whats gone on during this season alone Newcastle League cup: City didn't take it that seriously, conceded in the second half with a pretty much reserve side out and couldn't come back despite dominating possession Wolves - scored first, off a fast break. city equalise but hwang scored then wolves hung on. no stones no rodri so reserve midfield. the day to go at them Arsenal - late goal and again no stone, no rodri. a relatively even game too. Chelsea - a mad 4-4. an utterly inexplicable game with back and forth goal scoring and fast breaks. again a more even game and back the view you have to go at them LFC 1-1. city the better side and made pay for not putting the game to bed. we had few chances and scored from nothing much. Spurs 3-3 another mad back and forth game with city leading twice. again spurs didn't lie down and went at them Villa 0-1 no rodri again. Lose a late goal Palace 2-2 city 2-0 up in the game and concede two late goals. City only made one sub on the day taking of lewis and rodri was already booked so guess what? soft underbelly. Made result and daylight robbery off 25% possession. one eye maybe on the world club. Cheslea 1-1. the exact opposite of the first game. City had all of the ball and missed a shed load. again concede early, this time cheslea are parking a bus and its inevitable. If city score first its a mountain to climb for any side If city have a full team out its a mountain to climb (stones, rodri in particular) If sides sit off them and give 70% possession, guess what happens All their results show is if a side can take a chance and then be competitive they can get a goal off this lot. they have actually dropped more points than us against the bottom half clubs.
2022-23 2023-2024 City are 1 point better off than they were at this stage last season. Arsenal are 5 points down on were they were last season (going to be generous and say they win their game in hand). We are 20 points up on where we were last season. City got 28 (out of 33) points from their last 11 games last season. Arsenal got 18 from 33. We got 24. Our current pts/game is around 2.33. If me continue on the same ratio, we end up on 89pts. if City get 28 pts from their last 11 games like they did last season, they finish top on 90 pts. It definitely looks like (as we all knew), it pretty much comes down to the City game at Anfield.
