Agreed about styles. Would like to see him CM. Totally hung out to dry playing him on the right Saturday. He's a CM that can also play on the left ....... So we put him on the right!
Couldn't agree more. I even bored myself with the amount of times I shouted 'quicker' on Saturday. We're allowing teams to settle before we attack and not frightening them. We have pace in the team, ffs, something we've craved ... ... now we have to make the most of it. Aouchiche almost always looks to go forward, he should start and we should instruct the other forward players to do the same.
Absolutely. Him and Rusyn are perfect for that. Both quick, direct, attacking. Just, unfortunately, managers seem to have missed that or we’re all making it up!!
Just a year of what ifs, been done to death but in hindsight getting into the playoffs last year looks to have been a hinderance I don’t think we were as far ahead if schedule as we thought, still don’t need major tweaks to be right up there again though
Football doesn't work like that. Making wholesale changes imo doesn't work. There is no logic to starting Anouche as he's not been anywhere so clearly there is a reason. Whenever he's started games he's been crap. Chopping and changing strikers every game is also counter productive
The data says he's one of our best players. Already posted it in a different thread but within our squad he ranks: 1st for xG per 90 3rd for shots on target per 90 1st for shots per 90 2nd for xA per 90 8th for completed passes per 90, 2nd if only counting attacking players 2nd for completed long passes per 90 2nd for successful tackles per 90 4th for interceptions per 90 2nd for possession won in the final third per 90 So why doesn't he deserve a start?
Let’s hope Doddsy doesn’t try to be clever again (like playing Styles as RW) by doing something like playing Seelt as LW or some other square peg decision. If we play all the available players in their ‘round hole’ positions we could easily get something from this game. When you look at our injuries, Cirkin/Clarke/Roberts/Huggins and possibly Evans and Alese, they are hugely important players for us and if they had been available I would bet we would be in or around the play off positions. I also think that KLD is doing great things for this club. We’re in a poor patch at the moment but we have huge potential. FFP will knacker lots of clubs but KLD is doing the right thing with our finances We’re currently not good to watch but we’re not far away from being a really good team.
If this was our 1st season back, people would be content. Finishing 6th in a really weak division last season has skewed expectations amongst the fanbase IMHO - there was one podcast predicting we'd finish 2nd this season FFS. Now, the club hasn't helped itself with this constant obsession with the model and discarding experienced players whilst replacing them with kids who just aren't ready. The BCB fiasco, the on-going off field ****e, the Beale appointment. What I'd like to see is a proper football administrator come in to run the club - someone in the mould of a Brian Marwood or Peter Walker who used to be here when Quinny was chairman. Someone with experience of running a club, someone who understand the area and the fans and can be the voice on KLD's shoulder when silly decisions are being made. An older head just to add a bit of experience and nous to the on and off-field operations. A steady hand if you will. Think it was on WTF pod this morning where one of them raised a fear that Evans will leave in the summer and Speakman will announce that Dan Neil is now our "experienced midfielder". You can see it happening under the current regime. All I can hope for is that KLD and Speakman learn from their mistakes this season and accept that the model needs a little flexing. We are sure to lose Clarke and possibly Ballard in the summer, so don't be afraid to spend that money on 2-3 big money signings who can help. I've got nothing against bringing in kids who have talent, but we need to look after the hear and now. Also, if he's staying I'd like Speakman to shut the **** up and stop giving interviews. Stay in the shadows and do your job.
Very small dataset though. You could be right but he hasn't impressed me particularly when he's started.
I think he's one of these players who needs a run in the side. If he's told he'll be starting in the next 6 matches,no matter how many misplaced passes he makes or chances he misses, just go out and play your football, we might see what he's capable of. It's a confidence thing.Coming off the bench in the last 15 mins when you're a goal down, isn't his best environment....too much short term pressure. There's a nice footballer in there....we just need to let it out.
Overall Jobe's been poor. One or two bright things, but largely disappointing. If it's true that we are contractually obliged to play him or lose out on future revenue, that's a large blot on our recruitment landscape, and one I hope we will never repeat.
Has anybody ever asked, during our various press conferences, if there is anything in Jobe’s contract to explain why he is seemingly always picked no matter what.
Every player Ballard apart, and even him on occasion, are attack minded players ... ... so logic would suggest we should be attacking with pace and determination, we're not. The attack without Clarke, Roberts and Pritchard has lacked experience/guile so we need to seriously simplify things. Never mind intricate passing in midfield and inside the penalty area ... ... get the ball up the wings, flood the box and fire the ball in. Forget about the midfield, virtually bypass them and let them defend. Neil, Ekwah and Jobe just aren't aggressive, rapid or powerful enough to compete against hard nosed midfields with pace and height. Aouchiche, Mundle, Ba, Rusyn are all quick players, with stamina, so get then to occupy the opposition as high up the pitch as possible. Get the full backs up the wings and let the defence defend and the midfield put up a wall. The system we're currently playing is a good one but we simply don't have precisely the right players. We're not scoring enough despite getting into good positions, every pull back is into a six yard box more crowded than the half-time bar. Norwich kept their shape because we never caught them by surprise ... ... only goals will lift the mood, build the players confidence and win us games.
Not at any club, nor should they. Supporters suddenly think they have the right to know everything, call for sackings and demand statements of all manner of things. They don't.
