I've thought some more about this and I still can't see the the club or Jobe have agreed to a contract that says he has to play. It serves no purpose to either the club or the player and potentially would set a precedent for other young talents like Rigg to ask for the same.
You could say the midfield options are limited so he has to play but that's doing a disservice to Rigg, Adil even Ba who could play as the 10 or 8. I have to agree its curious though
If anything that’s having the opposite effect. He’s totally ineffective in the position he his playing, that’s not all on him mind it’s a combination of not knowing where he is most effective and also the players around him. I’d be playing him up front.
Playing him constantly and burning him out does seem to be contrary to what we all assume 'the model' to be.
If we are being forced to play him every week then surely we need to sit down and agree that it is best for all involved that he needs a spell out of the side. His reputation and value will continue to nose dive. As will our results, as will the value of our other players who are waiting in the wings. It doesnt make sense to be forced to flog him to death. Then again, it doesnt make sense to continue to pick him voluntarily either. Its a puzzler that surely needs addressing and made clear.
If we are being forced to play him then i would be leaning on the side of dropping him anyway and being forced to letting him go for peanuts. It will be better for everybody. If Jobe had anything about him he should be knocking on the managers door and suggesting a run of half a dozen games on the bench. For the sake of his and the clubs future.
We need an experienced manager/coach in with his own backroom staff, dodds and proctor can go back to what they do the best, coach the kids. Dodds has been found out about his lack of management skills and should be no where near the 1st team. Speakman has to hold his hands up and accept he got it wrong and get a manager in who could get these players organized
The next manager has to be allowed to bring in his own staff it must be frustrating having to work with Dodds who’s been here awhile must be like someone looking over your shoulder
I'd be amazed if any club would agree to a contract that stipulates how much a player plays. What is more likely is there have been assurance about playing time before he signed. People see Jobe playing every week when he needs a rest and put 2 & 2 together
I think them were the best players we have left to pick from for that position Maybe a question weather rigg should start ??/???
gary neville was talking about jude and why he turned down man u because the wouldn't promise him game time but dortmund did
in his contract mate had the same at birmingham and that's how we got him we triggered his release clause that got activated cos he hadn't played enough minutes in his contract
Then we have be daft, it doesn't benefit the club or the player and sets a dangerous precedent. Will Rigg demand the same?
he could of course mate but just depends if anyone else is also willing to give him that, but i do believe rigg has already verbally agreed to the contract, and i also believe we started talks with neil for a new contract
That's all good news, but I find it difficult to accept that we have agreed to a must play clause in Bellinghams contract. That's not a road I think we should go down for anyone, places in the team should always be on merit, especially for young kids
agree but it's defo in his contract if he doesn't hit a certain amount of minutes he has a clause that can be triggered
