We have a tougher run in, but I look at it as we get to play teams that are near to us in the table, so we can effectively force the gap. At the back end of the season it's not great going to teams that are looking like relegation battlers, they start pulling results out. Wendies have started to pick up, Birmingham while inconsistent have had a few results recently and Plymouth are always capable of upsetting teams near the top. We seem to do better against better teams, we were the better side against WBA, dominated Southampton and we've already beaten Leicester.
Couple of points - what Cityzen said is right, trying to characterise our or any other teams' fixtures as hard or easy is a fool's game, there are literally no easy games in this division (perhaps Rotherhem excepted), they are all hard. And the apparent abandonment of Ohio (for what it's worth, the vibes I'm getting makes me wonder if he's a bit of a prick) suggests me they've had some good news about Delap. Only two more games to negotiate this month, then it's Easter.......
Relatively means what exactly? You seem to have become quite wound up at the notion that someone might dare to assess two teams' run in (which I believe you actually did first) on a discussion forum. What exactly are we allowed to discuss if not who we think has a better run in?
Apparently we're not allowed to assess that! I take your broader point, but I still think it means that finishing top 6 leans slightly in Norwich's favour, even with our extra point on them.
I suppose it depends on what you view as "difficult". Norwich could get a few injuries and start to struggle, or could suddenly star picking up losses and draws. Coventry and Leicester both have an FA Cup tie to navigate as well.
Any game on any given day can have any result, absolutely, and I don't believe anyone's claimed otherwise. But assessing a general run of games over a dozen or more fixtures as easier or harder relative to another set of fixtures is not something I thought would be a controversial thing to do.
Yeah for sure, things can change very quickly which I think is the broad point people are trying to make above, but if we just sat back and said nothing because things could change then there wouldn't be much left to discuss on here.. All we can do is talk about things as they currently stand. Interestingly I think Norwich are undefeated this season with Sargeant in their side, so if he were to get injured that'd change a fair bit.
Delap is a bit of a harsh comparison as his pedigree in youth football was extremely good, and he's played for Man City which ain't easy. Ohio looks overweight when I've seen him for us, and he's looked knackered after about 10/15 mins when he's been on the pitch. I'd say he's been about as expected so far, unlike Zaroury who's been well under expectations. Carvalho has been too for me, he's done okay but I expected more.
I suppose the point of the comparison was surely we're fishing in the pond of Delap's calibre not Ohio's, and the time it'd take Ohio to catch up isn't worth our while. Plus factor in the chance he never does catch up.. When Acun came in he said we wouldn't skimp out on strikers as that was the most important position, but that's all we've really done.
But having Ohio as a backup striker and one to come through in the next few years surely isn't a bad thing. I'm not saying he should be our starting striker but we can't compete with parachute clubs so we've got to find value in other ways and we've done that pretty well on the whole since LR has come in.
I just wonder about this enforced three week break as well, in which we'll probably get overtaken. Still have a game in hand obviously but I'd rather have the points on the board personally. Not sure how we'll restart either, form wise. Not ideal
If youre looking for someone to enter into a 35 post debate to pass your time...look somewhere else and read my post again...
I did. Perhaps you can explain what your point in comparing him to Szmodics was then. You could even manage it in less than 35 posts if you want.
I've just been reading back and read the Szmodics comment which was a bit odd as he's not a striker. I think for us it's pretty simple, we need a decent striker, but realistically we need the money from selling Philogene to be able to purchase one.
So some of you can assess a players quality and potential after a player plays maybe a total of 85 minutes or so over 3 games - if that’s the case the you must apply for any future scouting jobs . As for the end of season fixtures it’s that over many years like the start of the season you get some really bizarre scores and outcomes - please don’t try to predict because it’s a waste of time in those periods of the season
