Just seen the Birmingham red. Clear red card for me. If he had made proper contact he would have broken Smallbone's leg. Shocking challenge.
Even more bizarre is the Brum players feeling aggrieved. Great management by Russ bringing Smallbone off when he did.
So many things in that game to ponder but I thought the triple substitution killed our impetus at a time when we were getting into their box at will, and might have been our undoing. Everything seemed to slow down for a time. I want to give a shout out to the way Mara tried to do a Bergkamp (?) with that cheeky flick around the corner and turn. Absolutely loved that.
I thought the ref had it right because the replays showed how high his foot was. You’ll know the answer to this question I have. Maybe I dreamt it but I thought the rules on players, who needed treatment, didn’t have to go off if the fouling player was carded. Have I imagined this?
Nope. I think they may have trialled that once but got scrapped. I think the current 30 second rule is just daft as well.
Think Brooks for Edozie was a bigger factor. I like Edozie but he's crap on the right. Should have put him on the left, with Adarma on the right. Although the right decision would have been to just leave Brooks on.
RM made Smallbone lead the post-match 'oi-oi-oi' with the Saints fans. Class. Two assists for Will today if I'm not mistaken. Or should I say; two nice balls by Willy. Snarf snarf.
He had to be subbed, they were winding him up and he had just picked up a yellow, may have picked up a second if he stayed on.
His little flick to Che was part of the build up for the first too and might've had two goals himself, great to see him back in his best position.
For all of his quality, Brooks isn't really a 90-minute player...he last played a full match in August 2021. Imagine his minutes will be managed pretty strictly to allow him to start as much as possible.
What a ****ing game Made harder work of it than we should have but amazing to get such a late winner. Class to see Smallbone get a great reception at the end and for Martin to push him towards us. Love to see it. Brum fans are ****s. UTFS
Well that was fun wasn't it! A vital win and the scenes in the away end said it all in terms of what that meant. Huge incredible win. Its hotting up at the top.
