I've been saying the same most the season but I was just branded negative, it's been obvious for so long but I think it got lost/masked with the ( somewhat.) attractive build up play. We have filled the squad with talented build up players, but have loaned out and not replaced / not signed anyone to finish those chances on a regular basis. We may get lucky and it not be our downfall this season. But unfortunately I think it will be and if it is, it's a huge missed chance/failure by LR and his team.
There is a difference between being negative, and realising we have some serious ****ing talent on the pitch now which is not producing as consistently as might be expected.
I agree but I don’t even think Sharp is capable in that regard anymore. He’s not looked close to scoring
Oh how good it would be to have a fully fit Fryatt playing for us, what a brilliant striker he was. Pretty sure the ball was glued to his feet at times. One of my favourite players in (not so anymore I guess) recent times.
Yipp...Simon Mayo.. Impressive bloke...Seemed to know what he was talking about......I think Seb Coe was also in attendance and Mark Foster the swimmer or another swimmer who talked a lot of sense.
Decent point today provided we beat Birmingham on Tuesday. Just got an awful feeling that a couple of poor refereeing decisions in both games against Norwich could cost us play offs come the end of the season
Are we too top heavy with loanees? Who know they won't be here next season....How many do Norwich have on loan? Could that be the difference between making the POs and missing out to the budgies?
I’ll be honest, when we first got him I was fully expecting him to pop up with a couple of goals but how many very good chances has he missed from about 5 yards out since he signed? At least 3 I can remember off the top of my head including his first home game which would’ve won us the game. Wouldn’t want anyone else in that situation but clearly he’s well past it even in the finishing sense now, very disappointing.
For all of this about our attacking prowess mind, let’s not forget West Brom have scored the grand sum of one more goal than us all season. It’s the 10(!) fewer conceded that makes their goal difference so good.
All round good bloke Think brucie commended him cos he offered him a new contract but he wanted to play so left for a new challenge but think the injuries took its toll on him
I agree but I don’t even think Sharp is capable in that regard anymore. He’s not looked close to scoring Sadly, Billy has looked every inch of his 38 years.....Should have gone back on a sentimental journey to Donny or Scunny. I didn't expect it to work out in the Championship. And it hasn't.
Obviously not, but they’re looking like our main rivals and they’ve directly benefited 5 points from poor decisions against us.
Part of the problem now is, that we all had our expectations raised after the Southampton game. In two subsequent games we have not been anywhere near that level against what are two inferior teams.. This is a big big week for LR. 11 to go.... can he make the right decisions, can he handle the pressure ...
I said a couple of games ago that it'll be disappointing if we don't make the playoffs. That's still the case but the truth is that we're not good enough to go up. That's not to say that we can't get promotion, then recruit really well over the summer - but we would need to replace over half the team. More likely is a playoff place but not promotion, then a good summer's recruitment to go again next season. Shopping list: a goalscoring forward, some steel in the midfield, a new right sided defensive player (sorry Lewie) and a keeper who's good with both his hands and his feet.
There's been games we have benefitted from ref decisions....today for example they could have and probably should have had a pen. If we lost 1-0 in the play off final to goal scored from a blatant ref error then fair enough, but over a season... Nar. If we don't hit the play offs it'll be down to our inability to score enough goals
