Again agree that when we get it in good areas we don’t play it quick enough mainly because we have midfielders who want the ball on the edge of the box naturally - strikers want it in the box - we miss a full time box only striker
Maybe their manager ot fans are saying their forwards are sh** for not taking easy chances , they had shots along the deck mainly on a rubbish pitch . This is football isn’t it ? Allsopp made a great save . And we gave the ball to them in all areas of the pitch to gift them chances , Teams like them get so far with reasonable talent strength and endeavour in the Champ and may make the playoffs .
Playing without an outlet really kills us, somehow Sharp kills us more. That needs to stop now, he’s so ****ing past it. He can’t even do what he was supposedly brought in for. We miss Delap massively, Zaraory has really flattered to deceive so far and in turn we are nullifying Philogene.
Thought that was fantastically entertaining just lacking in end product from both sides. We had spells where we entirely dominated and pinned them in and they created some big chances too. Carvalho for us with probably the best chance in the first half but created a lot second half too. Coyle and Greaves immense.
2 points dropped IMO. These are the types of games we could come to regret come the end of the season.
At the beginning of the game when Preston were pressing us hard, we could have won the game with some quick breakaways and with Tufan or Omur on the field we could have created them with their ability to hit a first time pass. But LR decided to go with Slater who in that period was giving the ball away. He improved later but I am totally puzzled why Omur or Tufan for that matter cant get a game. Tufan got a measly 3 or 4 minutes;
Dropping points against teams in the relegation zone, whilst galling, has far less impact than against those also competing for the top 6.
The difference between US and other teams are the goals. Ipswich as an example seem to average 2 or 3 a game and surely their squad cannot compare on paper to ours. Southampton when theyre on it score 3 a game. We simply cant seem to do that and that might ultimately be what comes to haunt us, to quote LR 'being clinical'. On the other hand, without recruiting there, we seem to have stopped the silly goals and the multiple goals we were conceding.
Harsh on Preston to say that, they outplayed us for half the first half and most of the second, and they've been in playoff positions or thereabouts for longer than we have this season. We didn't deserve more than we got.
Two decent teams who cancelled each other out, we edged it in the first, they were much better than us in the second. That being the case, it was a decent point, but it’s games like this that will probably see us falling just short.
Omur showed why when he came on, because he did nothing. Slater was more effective IMO and was needed to inject energy and bottle and make sure we didn't get overrun, which could have easily happened.
We’d have lost that a few months ago , the pitch made it better for their direct play and strength / height - it didn’t suit neat ball players which we now have an abundance of -
