Quinn does go on to say he only lost £1.8m in revenue from stay away fans over last season, thats peanuts in the great scheme of things. He is just scare mongering in my opinion.

Just read that myself and I'm fuming, its how to take some quotes and spin them to make a non story. The problem is that Quinn's best intentions in going on about this are now making the story bigger than the problem.

It's a rehash of a week old piece by a lazy, ****e journo, who has added Gyan's name to make it more of a story.

If you work for a free paper, that's cos your absolute **** at your job.

End of story.

thats what i thought when i wrote the thread BB, and another thing the papers don,t mention when they go on about us being 25 mil in red is that that bent transfer is excluded from those figures.

but what all these rants by snq does do, is alert other clubs as to the situation (or lack of it, snq stamping his feet). when he says things like maybe the club has to downsize etc. other clubs will no doubt come sniffing around come transfer season. and will be looking at the top players maybe under the impression that we are once again going to be a selling club.
very mixed signals coming out of sol, s.bruces vision for the coming seasons was a joy to hear, snq qoutes are not what people want to hear again and again. but if he is alerting other clubs maybe someone will come in with an offer, and would they turn it down?? never say never, (db for ex) this is football

Not to mention that despite the additions of quality players the wage bill has been slashed getting rid of the end of the 'Keane contracts', 50k a week for Murphy and Healy? Your kidding right? 40k for Kenwyne? Next years figures will be far better.

A good kit deal is the way forward for me, a Nike or Adidas kit will add MILLIONS to the clubs income, both from the deal itself, and worldwide sales.

Niall needs to be getting stuck into this, as the Umbro deal is nearly done. Nike own Umbro, as a matter of interest.

Gyan loves it here, you can see that, he's been big and honest enough to say his dream is to play for Manchester United, and we won't begrudge him that in a few years.

Commachio, i'm sure Niall's just trying everything to get people in, i ain't worried at all about that side of the club, Ellis Short is a winner in everything he's done, he'll be the same here <ok>

Typical Metro story-their darling Spurs lost at Blackpool so they'll wind up any northern club;ignore them and they'll go away

I fail to see why NQ is continuing with this. I'm sure Steve Walton has made NQ aware that the real money comes from Broadcasting and Commercial activities. Manure, Gooners, Chelski and 'Pool have numbers in these areas that generally dwarf our total revenue.

This is because of years/decades of success at home and in Europe. High profile = High demand.

Copied this out of this morning's Echo, quote from Steve Bruce talking about Gyan.

“He’s happy here and we’re happy to have him here and hopefully he’ll be here for a long time. He’s the all-round package, a complete player, and a massive asset to this club.”

I know who i beleive.

A new kit deal would help but I do think we need to start to fill the SOL. I know times are hard but Quinn has to play his part in this as well with more incentives to come to the stadium. (Why not buy the pubs? only joking) Another thing is that I want the club to up its profile around the UK and then further beyond. I've stated before its extremely hard to get any Sunderland merchandise over here in Ireland IMO seeing the merchandise in the shops is one sure way of increasing the future fan base and the profile of the club. With this and success on the pitch its onwards and upwards.

This is a valid point, the club shops were closed when the club was skint, re-opening one or 2 makes sense.

I also think our training gear, track tops etc are awful.

The club should be asking Umbro why City's training gear, for example, is smart, and ours is tat.

The City track top, the 60's style one, they're £70, and i'd have bought one straight away for the match.

Merchandise sales will only increase if the merchandise isn't sub standard.

Every Mag wum possible is having a field day over this on 606 right now.

I really do wish Niall would keep quiet and be patient. He's a Millionaire so he won't be feeling the pinch like a working lad with kids. Its OK for him but if they can't afford to go to matches then there's little chance of the kids getting there so all that will happen is the numbers will decrease over the years. and we'llhavelost a future suppporter.

The drinkers will go to the pub regardless because they are drinkers first and fans second.

l don,t know why they don't let an Adult accompanied by a child under sixteen in through a pay as you enter turnstile for fifteen quid.

That way we fill the empty seats and initiate the fans of the future.
