Basically you're either pro Palestine or pro Israeli. You believe what you want to believe.

 

You’ve got a militant group performing and act of terrorism on Oct 7th. Absolutely horrendous. Israel had every right to retaliate and did so - it should have ended there. At every turn since their initial retaliation, Israel have ushered people to areas of Gaza for ‘safety’ only to bomb those same areas soon after. What they are doing is inhumane.

 

Objective of war is to win. I am not defending any actions of either sides and the history and complexity of it all is insane. But logically, if you're provoked to that level and have the military might, you use it until the enemy is completely disintegrated

It seems obvious to me that unless hamas release the hostages Israel must keep pressing to force hamas to do so. Oct 7th cannot be allowed to be repeated.

We still sell more arms to Israel than most than most these days.

Unfortunately, war is good for Dosh. Always has and always will. I did watch it all at the start but it was all controlled media. Load of crap. So turned the Ukraine and Gaza stuff off all social media since.

 

Can I suggest that you read The Hundred Years’ War on Palistin, byRashid Khalidi. Then you might see that the evidence is that European migrants have colonised Palestine from a country with only 4% Jews in the population. You will also see that Zionists set out to creat conflict as this was the best way to justify taking the land away from the people already living there. The worst example was the Nakba in 1948, 15% of Palestinian men were killed and 750,000 displaced and forced into exile and refugee camps. Laws were then passed to outlaw the return of those families to the homes and farms they owned and no compensation for the loss was ever paid.

Since then you have had the six day war in which Israel preemptively attacked several Arab nations, occupying large areas of Egypt and the West Bank. Over time settlers have stolen land of Palestinians living there, often by force of arms backed by the Israeli armed forces.

We can not put all of these wrongs right, but any solution must at the very least acknowledge the rights of those in refugee camps the right to compensation and the right to return to their homes and equal rights in their homeland.

 

Netanyahu doesn’t give a fcuk about the hostages. If they’re released he’ll not have much wiggle room to carry on the destruction.

You mention Israel’s pre-emptive strikes but nothing about Palestinian guerrila groups who were upping their attacks against the Israeli state and its peoples.

Think I’ll give it a miss.

 

Multicultural societies work fine. It’s the extremists on all sides that are the problem. The 1%, if that.

I agree, no state should be based on religion, be that Iran, Saudi, Israel, India. People should be free to worship any god they want but not to impose that view on anybody else.

I've watched several videos with Norman Finkelstein, some of which are very moving, especially as Finkelstein's parents were Holocaust survivors.

Both are absolutely scathing about Israel.

Agree with the second half of this post in that Hamas need to be broken down but the events following world war 2, to me just seem like invasion and conquest.

Much of England lived under Danelaw 1100/1200 years ago. I think we'd be pretty ****ed off if the UN arbitrarily decided Denmark had a right to much of the north of England, Norfolk, and London and they came in and built walls around those areas and kept grabbing more and more land.

The problem isn't Jews in Palestine. The problem is the systematic destruction of Palestine to benefit Israel.

Until both sides feel like they're getting what they want, being afforded basic human rights etc, this will just go on for another hundred years.

It feels like the end game for the state of Israel is to take all of Palestine. And that's not good, they're behaving like Russia but for some reason they're not viewed as such.

 

This is why I won’t take a side. Palestine was barbaric in their initial attack, Israel had a right to act however they have been barbaric in their response.

The sad reality is this conflict will likely go on until the end of time with the odd peace break, or until one of them is wiped out.

This is also why it is causing issues in politics…even though what the UK say won’t have even the tiniest bearing on the conflict.
