Yet, he had a squad that the previous season, a young, inexperienced pup of a manager had very close to the play-offs and Nige with all his experience, couldn't get a tune from them. Then he let them all go for free. That's the context you and the other Nige luvees miss...
Not quite a busted flush, better by far than we were but still quite shakey.. Bristol City reduce losses but still £22.2m in the red for 2022/23 The fee gained for the transfer of Antoine Semenyo to Bournemouth helped ease the losses https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-city-reduce-losses-still-8996034
He turns slower than the tide at Weston. He regularly takes rests in games after the previous rests. If you forget virtually all of the footballing bit and Cardiff players can carry him facing the goal to the edge of the box so he saves his energy, the one part, and it is one part of his game, his finishing of chances is on the high side.
I was expecting far better. I have been informed on here, untold times, that Nige had managed our financial position so much better than those before him. Yet, we still post a £22m loss after selling 2 players for a combined £34m. WTF!!! In short, Nige didn't really balance the books significantly better, dropped our league positions, and pi$$ed off the board and owner. Now this is out in the open; the blind might now see why the board let him go...
The team he took over was in free fall, had he not been appointed we’d have been relegated, otherwise why was he appointed? . The club is in far better shape than when he took over, all achieved whilst maintaining mid table finishes, even JL and BT don’t dispute that, there belief was he’s not what’s needed to progress further, had they allowed him a chance to use some of the money he’d helped accumulate and failed I’d have no problem, but they didn’t. edit As an aside the new guy was supposed to be a better coach, someone able to get a better tune, as you put it, out of the same players, well so far he’s failed miserably to do that, despite having an almost fully fit squad now for some time.
'Alex Scott was sold for a significant sum of money to the same club but as that transfer happened in August this year it does not fall into the figures for the 2022/23 season' Scotty's tranfsfer value not included then therefore figures for 2023/24 should vastly improve our financial state.
Not how I saw it.. we won a couple of games when he first came in (dead cat bounce) and then we got lucky with other teams around us losing.. we went several games losing, especially at home of which on the back of it he got offered a 3 year contract ffs. Even he was surprised.. I remember Talk Sport saying he was lucky to get such an offer after such a poor run..I recon RR slipped the board a bung to keep him!!!
He's improved our league position by 3 places; if that's "failed miserably", what does that say about NP, who had years building this squad to what it is now, and got sacked when we were 15th..... Fully fit squad Long term injuries still to Atkinson & Naimsith. Only just getting McCrorie and Roberts back in the last month. Lost Sam Bell for the season, Twine injured for a month as well, not quite the picture you paint....
Your post doesn't make sense. If the sales of the two players were both included in the accounts for 22/23 the loss would not be 22m.
If you read my post you will see the context of why Nige keeping us mid table is success, even BT and JL don’t dispute that, they just claim he’s not the right person to now take us forward. You laugh at the suggestion we now have an almost fit squad, but compared to what Nige had we do. How often were we using academy players because that’s all we had available. You quote Bell as being unfit for the season, he wouldn’t even be a regular in the squad but for Nige. He’s also got a bigger squad, Twine and the other loan player have been added. It will be interesting to see how many academy players our new super dooper coach manages to bring through
Nige’s remit was to keep us in the championship whilst we consolidated our off field finances and readjust our squad, he succeeded in that goal. I’m not suggesting he was anything other than successful, he didn’t excel in terms of results, but he did achieve his objectives, he was then denied the opportunity to at least try to take us to the next level, that’s where I have an issue. My beef is purely that he wasn’t given the chance.
FFS, is this supposed to be a matchday thread? You're trotting out the same "horeshit" you've had on dozens of "manager" threads before now. Give it a rest and discuss your upcoming drubbing tomorrow.
where are you standing on the ashton gate weapons selling gig? if your lot start having a row with the crappers again they might get used as target practice.
