Went there 70’s when on bunkers everyone said they were , lying tw***, 2 coaches , occupied their Kop until about quarter to three , and suddenly we were vastly outnumbered and got kicked off it literally but unwillingly - lost 2-0 , onto Blackpool for a late evening , effin freezing and sand blasted on the front great days being em back LOL
Was that during 'Preston Guild'? About 1970? It was a local event when the pubs where open all day, very much a rarity in those days. Remember being on their Kop and then literally hundreds of them arrived just before kick off and we finished up getting scatterd all over the ground, pre segregation obviously.
I always thought Blackburn were the grebos...Like a forerunner of 'The Ramones' they were. All black leather jacket, skinny jeans, long hair, generally unwashed and quite unpleasant. Seem to recall Gerry Ingram, ex Hull Brunswick, might have scored for Preston when we lost there 1-0 in about *1973 edit....*On reflection....Might have been late 1960s, say 68 or 69 not 1973..
and threw ball bearings - I remember them arriving and hearing the thud thud thud as they hit the back of the stand
Jack Clark of Sunderland fame is out injured for a few weeks, not much left to trouble Norwich so can’t count on them for any favours… oh and Connolly will be fine for preston…
Whether it's just because he's been in and out of the side I don't know, but Connolly has been disappointing of late. There hopefully he'll get a couple on Saturday now
There's been a suggestion he hasn't really hit his full fitness all season. From one niggle or another, or being polaxed etc... But frankly, he needs to show more than he does currently to justify more minutes. He's got 12 games to make a difference.
Yeah I thought we might be onto something around the time of Blackburn away and Coventry at home but apart from that he just hasn't done enough for me. TWT but right now I wouldn't be keeping him on past May
My first game of the season & first trip to Deepdale, I found the name of a pub online for away fans, but I’ve forgotten it now, so I’ll have to check again when I get up. Is it worth going to a pub, or just go straight to the ground?
Have a butchers at this. Sure I've been into a pub called the 'Summers' or summat, down an innocuous side street off a main road about 12 mins walk from the ground, away friendly from memory, but not sure I had colours on. These guides are okay, but possibly not updated too often. https://footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/championship/deepdale-preston-north-end.html
Don't know what the Preston pitch is like but what's the chance it could be called off, waterlogged pitch? Weather's bloody awful now and for the weekend.
2-0 City - or better still a repeat of the score line when Horton took us up from Div.3 (Preston 1 City 4)
Wouldn’t want to see Alssopp and co playing tippy tappy on there. There’s no wonder everyone had wingers and hoofed it long!
