I think we're just crying out to have a double pivot in midfield and let Bruno float around the 8/10 area. We have so many more options in a 4-2-3-1, or even going to 3 at the back. But I don't know how many times I have to stare at this 4-3-3 before we do something different/better. Kelleher (£20m) Livramento - Silva (£45m) - Botman - Gutierrez/Netz (£25m) Tonali - Joelinton Raphinha (£40m) - Bruno - Gordon Isak Subs: Pope, Trippier, Burn, Willock, Barnes, Minteh, Sesko (£40m), Anderson, Almiron. I mean, can you imagine? Bruno a little deeper than a real '10', but check out my bench! Bit of depth with Karius, Krafth, Schar/Lascelles, Targett, Miley, White and A. Murphy as well. And "only" £170m spent. Sell Wilson, Dubs, Murphy, Lascelles or Schar and Longstaff.
Definitely not sell Schar. If you think we need na upgrade then fine, but he's a great player none the less. Good defender, good attacking quality. We need back up.
I agree, Schar isn't a terrible option. I disagree that we only need backup for him though. Any new signings should be aimed at improving current starting options and shunting the current decent players into the backup category. The current backups should then be sold. So, new starting CB, Schar as an able backup, Lascelles - thank you and goodbye.
Miaow. I just mean get him protected rather than targeted and further forward with more freedom. Or let’s just keep peddling this tired Howe ****e. I’m easy either way
Which is exactly what we failed to do last summer. You had the likes of Macallister moving for £35m whilst we paid more for Gordon’s understudy. They cannot make so many stupid mistakes this summer.
I agree - although signing Tonali should have been doing just that for Longstaff (shunting him down the pecking order). And if Livramento turns out to be as good as the early promise suggests, we would have been foolish not to make that move, even if it delayed strengthening elsewhere. Regardless, I just don't think we can be pointing at Howe and saying all bad transfer decisions are at his feet, all good ones belong to Nickson etc. We don't know that this is true and over the full length of his NUFC tenure, most transfer work has been pretty good... And ambitious.
Because MacAllister would have come to us instead of Liverpool? Or Maddison would have come to us as opposed to London? Sometimes players have other agendas or are just too expensive (as a package) that we don’t know about. I agree there were some weird signings but we never know the ins and outs or wherefores.
No, didn't mean that we should have been in the running for those players, was more pointing out that there were first-team ready players moving less than we paid for subs and understudies. It remains a terrible transfer window, coupled with meaning January was non-existent. They have to get it right this Summer - yet don't have a DoF in place to help. Strange period this.
We have a great 1st team just don't have good enough replacements. Pope is a massive miss, dubs despite his heroics isn't good enough and we need big Joe protecting the defence
I hope Eddie finally sees sense and decides to bench Burn against Wolves as Pedro Neto will rip him to shreds whereas Tino can match him athletically and with him being right footed at LB it will be easier for him to stop Neto cutting inside onto his left foot.
Deserved win against Man City with those 2, struggling Vs Blackburn without....its sadly true. Although will Tonali be able to properly replace Joe should Joe leave is the question.
Just think Wolves will win. Shot a tenner on a draw so least you get some money back. If Wolves win, you’ve earned a bit of coin for the weekend, a draw least you get something back & if we win, happy ****ing days.
