Good Morning. It's Thursday 29th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds suffer last minute Cup heartache

Conor Gallagher's last minute strike knocked Leeds out of the FA Cup, denying them a mouth watering home tie with Leicester City in the last eight.

The Whites gave a great account of themselves, especially having fielded a weakened side without strike quartet Gnonto, Bamford, Summerville or Rutter. If anyone thought that would make them any less dangerous in advanced areas, than Mateo Joseph clearly hadn't read the script.

The 20yo sensationally bagged himself a brace in his first ever start for the Whites His pace, predatory instinct and bags of energy made him a constant threat to a somewhat lethargic Chelsea back line.

He fired Leeds ahead after just eight minutes after Chelsea made a hash of trying to play out from the back, (thanks to Gray). Their lead would only last seven minutes. Caicedo's through ball sliced the Leeds defence wide open, allowing Nicolas Jackson to nip in, get the better of Liam Cooper, and slot home, much to the relief of their under fire boss Mauricio Pochettino.

As the half wore on, the hosts took a grip on the game and went ahead five minutes before the break, with a sublime finish from Mykhailo Mudryk; but even after having the game turned on it's head, Leeds weren't ready to throw in the towel!

Farke's men were much the better side after the break. Chelsea were happy to sit back and invite pressure, and learnt the hard way - you just can't do that to this Leeds side.

The Whites well earnt equaliser came on the hour mark, with Joseph heading Jaidon Anthony's inch perfect cross across goal. It was a long time coming, and Pochettino had to throw his big guns on, to get his side back in the game.

Just as it looked the game was heading into extra time, and possible penalties, Conor Gallagher's last minute winner finally put the game to bed for the top flight outfit. It was a valiant display, but for now at least, Leeds have more important things to worry about, starting with a Yorkshire derby at Huddersfield on Saturday lunchtime.

Leeds fan hospitalised after fall from top tier

A Leeds fan had to be rushed to hospital after falling from the Upper Tier of the away end at Stamford Bridge last night.

An unknown male was celebrating Leeds opening goal when the accident occurred. St Johns Ambulance were quickly in attendance, with paramedics taking over five minutes later, before being rushed into a waiting ambulance.

The extent of his injuries have not yet been disclosed, but reports suggest he fell from the top tier onto empty seating areas below.

"Shortly before 8pm on Wednesday 28th February, we received reports that a person had fallen from a height at Chelsea football club in Fulham Road.

“Alongside colleagues from St John Ambulance and doctors from the club, an ambulance crew on scene treated a man before taking him to a London Major trauma centre."

    Morning all,

Not really cup heartache as none of us were particularly bothered about going through, the performance was what mattered and the lads delivered.

Too many idiots on twitter slagging off Cooper and telling him to f off out the club.

We all know he is past his best, he knows it and Farke knows it. We also all now that he is most likely leaving at the end of the season so why the need to get so abusive is beyond me.

Have we potentially seen Coopers last game, barring a testimonial, in a leeds shirt last night? Barring a glut of injuries I can't see him starting again this season.

( I wish no ill on anyone and obviously d don't know all the facts but has the competitive celebrating we see in the south stand or away end finally claimed its first victim? Too many feel the need to throw themselves down rows of seats to show they care more than you. Sadly he'll probably be called a legend when he recovers.)

Nothing only positives from last night. Disappointed at the time but this morning couldn't care less and the Huddersfield is all that matters now

    Good morning everyone
Yes good performance last night, it might not have been Chelsea's top side , but neither was ours, so what pleased me most was going toe to toe with them all the way, which showed me one thing at least, that we will not be in for the battering's match on match which some of us fear if we get promoted, personally i now believe we will be ok this time round under Farke, and yes we need strengthening in one ot two positions, for which Farke and the 49r's will realise (after our last little foray in the PL) and take care of that bit of business.
Possibly good times ahead, just gotta take care of that promotion now.

Proud of the lads and not fussed about the result. It shouldn't effect morale as we held our own. Missing extra time was bitter sweet, I wasn't overly ****ed when they scored the winner, it was an odd feeling.

Thoughts with the fan that fell, hope here's to a full recovery <cheers>

Agreed. We got sliced open for their goals.
I've wondered when there'd be a SS casualty caused by a fat bloke landing on them.

    Morning all.

Just a quick one on Mateo Joseph as there have been tiny glimpses of his potential talent when coming on as a late sub in games this season. Just little things like the way he moves across the turf and his general speed were noticable, as was his willingness to close down and work as hard in the lone striker role. However last night he showed that he has enough in his locker to have a very decent career in front of him and that was very pleasing to see.

Now whether he'll be PL class we don't yet know but certainly he deserves to come into consideration when Paddy isn't fit enough to lead the line for the remainder of this season and we need someone up top who's lively enough to put opposition defences under pressure.

Another well done to Farke for this one as well.

I thought coops was fine yesterday. Yes he’s slow and got skinned for one of the goals. It happens. People having a pop at him can fck off. The guy’s been an exemplary pro, a good ambassador for the club as captain and always gives his all. His time with us is coming to an end we all know that. He should be thanked and appreciated for his service not castigated by dickheads.

    Morning all Leeds fans.

Fantastic performance and that's all that mattered. Although it would have been nice to go through as well. Main thing is - no injuries, and we put on a more than decent showing at a Prem club. Confidence should be sky high following that. And Joseph could be another little gem waiting in the wings.

Don't want to jump to conclusions about the lad that fell, but I've received more than a few bruises caused by idiots in the cheese wedge launching themselves from several rows behind after we've scored. An accident waiting to happen sadly.

I watched Joseph live for the u23s last season and he scored a hat trick. A mix of different finishes. Yesterday his link up play was good, there were some really good touches from him, he worked hard and took his goals with composure. Great to see.

was a bit pissed off with the ending as i thought we more than held our own....was really pissed off with the 'interviews' at the end with mumbling/waffling poch and his die hard chelski wimminz sidekick, i thought it was an interview for chelski t.v. rather than national i.t.v. .... pathetic :emoticon-0173-middl

    Afternoon all.
The difference between the two sides was the quality of the finishes. PL strikers will punish you if you give them the chance. That's why they cost so much. Chelski should have brushed us aside even with some top names missing but they didn't. Even missing most of our stand out performers we went toe to toe with them.
I do think that says more about them than us and probably why they're struggling in the PL. Apparently they have no replacements for their MF pair which could be why they couldn't control one of their own rejects and a 17 year old kid.
I don't like to hear that Coops is getting stIck. It's not his fault that this quality opposition is now a step too far for him. He did his best and gave his all, unfortunately that wasn't enough.
Firpo is an enigma. We all accept that he is suspect defensively but he did look reasonably comfortable going forward. It's tough but it was interesting to hear that Shackleton would have played if he'd been fit. Would he have been LB, RB or maybe MF instead of Archie.
Piroe is like a very **** version of Chris Wood, although I do think Wood was a better finisher and much better in the air.
I didn't feel the Anthony love last night. For me he runs in to too many dead ends. When they gave him room he delivered but he's got tto do more. Willy and Jimmy are also guilty of the same thing but at least they beat a player now and then.
I don't think Mes was at fault for the first, he's a tall guy and it's gone through his legs at pace, very tough to get down to.

Saturday's game is crucial to get our mojo back but Udders have found some form so it definitely won't be easy. If we lose this we could dip like Southampton have done.

    Afternoon all

Been to the doctor's today about my mood and he's diagnosed with with positivity. Given me some.pills and I should be back to my usual skeptical self.

    On a serious note...

Yesterday was a damn good performance and we've go out the makings of being a damn good if we can keep our hands on the likes of Joseph and Gray. I would be the future squad round those 2.
