I wouldn't be forcing him out, but if he wanted to leave for whatever reason it's about the first time since he's been here that it wouldn't be a disaster. Konate looks ready to take over his role, while Gomez and Quansah are decent partners.

And we still have Nat Philips and Rhys Williams on the books :emoticon-0100-smile

At least, that we know of. Seems to be a lot less dirty laundry aired than with the last owners.

I don’t think klopp would have stuck around if owners were forcing him to sell players.

Who since klopp has been here have we really sold that we didn’t want? Mane? That was more mane’s doing. Coutinho? Again more on him.

Can’t think of one other players that’s moved to that we didn’t want to lose because we needed money?

I think fsg are stingy with providing money and generwlly have been a sell to buy policy, but not to a dramatic sense that we’re having to sell our best players to bolster the squad. It’s more sell on a few squad players to generate funds to buy a first team er which is fine.

Its going to be different this year as we will have a new manager and some players may not fit with his playstyle. But if Klopp was staying I don't think we have any fringe players we could sell in the summer. Apart from Thiago and maybe Matip both out of contract in the summer anyway cant think of any we could do without. Shows what a good rebuild Klopp did in the summer. I wasn't suggesting will sell VVD I was merely pointing out if we want to generate a bit of money for the new manager we may need to sell a higher profile older star.

No one was forcing anyone, it is (or at least was until the pandemic) an agreed strategy. Klopp has the final say on all deals so nothing happens without his agreement anyway.

Od much rather buy absolutely no one that sell the best CB in the world to then go and buy players not as good.

Agreed. We absolutely could cash in on VVD right now but definitely shouldn't. He's the captain and the rock of the side.

Contract issue might force our hand though

There is Carvalho, Phillips, Willaims and Van De Berg we could sell. Ramsay is an interesting one with the emergence of Bradley where is he on the pecking order.

Quote: In the ever-evolving landscape of Premier League football, Liverpool’s keen eye for talent has identified a promising prospect in Porto’s midfield maestro, Alan Varela. According to the Daily Mirror, dubbed the ‘next Mascherano’ for his dynamic play and defensive prowess, Varela’s performances have not only captivated fans but have also caught the attention of the Premier League leaders, poised to reinforce their squad with his talent.

The next Mascherano? I'm in. That's the one role we've never refilled. I miss the monster mash, even if mito was blind to his greatness.

At least I'm assuming they're calling Varela the next Mascherano. The way it's phrased sounds like they're calling the Daily Mail the next Mascherano.

We were linked to him before he went to Porto I believe.

The fans have generally moaned about us not selling players rather than selling them.

Though I've still not gotten over us selling Borini.

Looks like being liked with Bournemouth technical director who will be leaving role at end of the season. Highly regarded, be interesting going to a much larger club with no disrespect for Bournemouth. Huge increase in budget and expectations of the players

Arsenal, Utd, and City are also interested in him. We stand a chance if City get relegated!!

TEAMtalk sources have confirmed that Porto star Alan Varela is a key target for Liverpool as they aim to strengthen their midfield options.

Rumours involving is are pointless at the best of times but atm, we don't have a Sporting Director or Manager for next season so they're even more futile.

Despite the rumours about who are next manager will be, I think if we sign anyone this summer it will be someone the new manager wants, So an early signing in the transfer window may suggest the new manager had been agreed some months before. Or we could just mess it all up!

See, I was purposely being picky. I think we've already got the next manager lined up ready, I believe that's why it took 2.5mths between Klopp telling the club and telling everyone else.

Yes. Scouts aren't going to stop scouting because the manager is leaving and the club will be lining up some preferred targets but I too highly doubt we will sign any contracts or move to far on anyone until whoever the new manager is, blesses them. For youth team maybe, but not a first team player.
