Right then, my take on the game Ravizzoli- largely untroubled, started the game passing it out to the defenders, however that soon stopped and as usual it was all long after that with very little results. LL - I don’t think he is a natural defender but being forced to play there he did alright Low - looked quality and should have had a goal, sadly his early season passing it through the middle has gone and once again everything went long. Taff - pleased to see him staying fit enough to get a good run in the side, untroubled at the back but also, everything went long. Grimmer - the only player in the whole team willing to take the ball down and try to play it on the grass, also willing to take a player on. Caused lots of problems and didn’t have much defending to do. Butcher - forgot he was on the pitch, but I guess that’s the sign on a good defensive midfielder. Potts - looked great on occasions but also seemed unwilling to play the ball on the grass into feet. Sadlier - glimpses of what he can do and pulled out a good save from their goalie McCleary - again glimpses but seemed double marked for most of the game Taylor - “Taylor again trying to bundle his way through” commentators got it spot on as that’s all he did, very little end product but lots of effort Vokes - I feel sorry for him, being relied upon to constantly battle for ariel balls which very rarely go to our players. Not once did I see a ball played into his feet for him to control and bring players into the game. overall very uninspiring, I think confidence is low and therefore we aren’t trying to play football on the ground. However a win is a win.
Obviously we started the season trying to pass it all the time and just weren’t good enough, now we just go long all the time. Hopefully next season we can mix it up a bit so it’s not so obvious.
