Apparently if we beat City the FA want us to play a team made up of all the best players playing in the PL, and if we win that we can advance to the semi finals
The only way we can look at this is that it's better to get them now than. In a final where they would almost definitely win. What we wouldn't do for a home draw though.
True. It’s a difficult one for Howe mind as I think all the eggs were in this basket given our poor(ish) league position. But it could be a blessing in disguise because we might refocus on the league again.
It does suck how many ridiculous hard ties we have had in cups. It almost does feel fixed. I think this season has to be a consolidation one now. We may beat Man City but it’s highly unlikely. So it’s about planning for next season.
Yeah even if got them at home we'd have some hope, I was surprised City played Haaland and De Brunye last night which means they are taking it seriously even at that stage
They are in it to win it. There’s a chance they might smash us. But I remain hopeful. We just need to win as many games in the PL as possible and see where we are. If we finish to 10th or lower then it’s a poor season.
I'd genuinely use this match to either give Howe another (half) season if he wins, or get rid if he doesn't. Of course I'd take the win if offered, but I suspect we'll be embarrassed by City in a match with meaning. I'd be sounding out Amorim, or anyone with a bit about them and some success under their belt.
It's easy for anyone to say that now but if the side keeps playing badly eventually the fans will want him out.
All the teams you would expect to win tonight did. The chances of us winning the fa cup are very very low. We need to focus more on the league.
There wasn't really any chance from the outset .. If people put their hearts to one side and instead use their heads they would know that. We're all more than capable of seeing this side isn't very good. We might finish top half and have reached two quarter finals that's about where the club is and they could slide backwards or go forwards depending on this summers transfers. I feel like this summer is pivotal. Anyone watching Newcastle this season knows fine well they're nowhere close to being good enough to win anything yet ... there's a few dreamers and that's fine, but when they're hoping we avoid clubs and appealing to faith it's because they know the team isn't good enough.
I just want to improve year on year. And make the right decisions. Sentimental aside if we are not performing then change should be inevitable. We have this one chance with the owners to become good. I am certain they will make the right calls. They won’t accept mediocre levels when they have invested millions.
We will get worse and better but I dont think winning anything will ever not be odds stacked heavily against. The order of the top is cemented through financial restrictions. I firmly believe we could be here in 20 years still no trophy, but with alot more heart ache in the latter stages of competitions and finals.
The fact City haven't lost at home all season doesn't bode well, there is always a chance, however slime though, remember Brentford beat City at home last season. The league cup was our big chance though, we would have had a reasonable chance against Liverpool in that final.
