I don't want us to lose Syd...but a draw should be enough to see him go. All the bollocks about our season starting now has really jarred me into how inept he is as a manager. You say you can see him still here in January...but where will we be then? Relegation fodder in my eyes and that hurts more than anything....I've turned this into a BoB debate and I apologise....

I feel that this is a must win game for all concerned with SAFC, and I for one will be doing my best to encourage the team for the 90 or so minutes of play...

Why is the mis-managing of our team dominating conversation, easy we are playing very poorly and this seems a direct result of management decisions about who we have bought and sold, the tactics, the players picked and where they are asked to play. Now SB is not solely responsible for all the poor decisions but he is a big part of it.

We are now saying it is this week is the big game, frnakly IIRC, my test for SB last week was, did he pick Elmo, yes he did and he was awful (me right SB wrong), did he pick Catts, yes he did and he played well (SB right me wrong) but he also picked Colback so we had a very defensive CM, (me right SB wrong), did he play Sess behind Bendtner ( me right SB wrong). Was the problem that we did not score a goal against a very poor Fulham side yes it was (me right SB wrong).

The really galling thing is not that I, a mere fan can get more calls right than I guy who is paid millions to take the decisions, but that from this and other forums I am not alone in the calls I make. So if the 'right' decisions are obvious to thousands of fans why are they not to to the so called expert.

This is a football forum and my team is not getting enough points to stay in the EPL, the main reason being a very poor manager that has been proved time and time again. Until either SB is gone or we start on a 6 game winning run, the dominating topic on this forum is going to be how useless the manager is, cos' an awful lot of people see him as the cause of a lot of misery

But my point is if he is still here we will not be relegation fodder, we will be doing OK becasue he wont be here any other way.

And I agree its a frum and if people want to talk Bruce all day they can.

Are you really sure about this mate? I get the feeling that Short is going to stick with Bruce right up to the point that we only have a 6 or 7 game rescue mission to launch. I bet he clings on in the bottom 6 until we get slaughtered at the Etihad on March 31st. A caretaker replacement will then be sought to plot a suicide rescue mission for the final 7 games, when we are truly ****ed and unable to attract a top replacement.

Its no use waiting for the drop and then get a manager who can launch yet another promotion campaign because a good 10,000 to 15,000 will already have packed it in by then - me included.

The thing that sticks in my mind is Shorts interview, I think its the only one he has given. Ge said,"I'm looking for year on year progress and no religation battle"

It's that quote I remember and I dont think Saturday will be the day but Blackburn will, Short, IMO, will look at things then and either back or sack Bruce.

Well, we ARE in a relegation battle right now and we were sucked back into one at the end of last season, only to narrowly escape by the skin of our teeth. We all went into that Wigan game last April with a knot in the pit of our stomachs and we do so again this weekend. Thats not progress at all.

    Its bloody depressing.

Its all very simple to me Wigan and Blackburn wins and Wolves draw, maybe in top ten, he will back Bruce.

Anything less, bottom 3 or near, he will sack Bruce

I think the (unfortunate?) thing for you guys is that Bruce always does enough to keep his job. But only just. In the must win games, he doesn't get beats, but usually gets a draw. He's always just about getting enough points to save him from the chop, and while that means you won't be relegated, it also makes it very difficult to make real progress up th eleague.

....and this is why I have been so quiet lately :( How much longer does the inevitable have to drag on?

I can't ever remember feeling this low about our club, not even during the 15 point season. We all knew that the 15 point season was so poor because of the total lack of funding for players, but this season has become a complete joke after all of the money that has been spent on 'improving' the squad.

I am sick to the back teeth of seeing players played out of their best positions, of repeated failures of the manager to react to what is going wrong in a game until the last 15-20 minutes and the bizarre substitutions that he does make, when he eventually decides to do something apart from scratch his head and shrug his shoulders!

His repeated crap excuses do not wash with the fans anymore. Get it right on Saturday and there will be a stay of execution until the Wolves and Blackburn games. Get it wrong on Saturday and Ellis MUST swing the axe.

Short likes Bruce because he is bringing money into his wallet sorry our club, I don't think he'll sack him before the end of the season however that could be too late for SAFC. Not a big problem for Bruce as he'll get his failure payout of a couple of mil to see him over the rough spell without a job.
If and it's a big if we get 7 points (would rather 9 mind) from Wigan, Wolves and Blackburn then, he is safe for the foreseeable future.

Martin O'Neil = Lawrie Mackemenemy, mark my words, I did not want the latter and I certainly do not want the former.

Dorset, try seeing your team getting beat of Gilllingham(after Proctor missed a pen that would have kept us up) that was a low point, or getting relegated to the second division under Alan Brown - another low point.

We are at a low ebb, but nowhere near the above or the 15 point season.

It's just the way I'm personally feeling ATM mate. Perhaps it's because of all the negativity surrounding the manager and performances that's making me want to jump off Durdle Door! ;)
