So quarter finalists likely to be:

Newcastle
Villa
B'mth
L'pool
Man U
Wolves
Coventry
Man City

Chance it could be Forest, Chelsea, Brighton, Leicester. Only one I don't fancy us against is the PL's top two, so we could do with them getting each other. Suspect Klopp's going to walk off with the trophy, squad's just really good and they're getting players back from injury.

The law of averages would suggest we get a home tie next after 3 successive away ties.

Would actually like Chelsea to get through and us hammer them at home. If we can avoid City and Liverpool we have a big chance, although I refuse to discount Blackburn pulling off a shock yet.

Joelinton to come back from injury in May and win the final for us in his last game.

Howe should just not even bother vs Arsenal and save our better players for this.... I'm sorry but Newcastle have absolutely no chance whatsoever away at Arsenal or top 6 based on performances.

It's all about this competition.

Lucky he didn’t listen to you today, isn’t it.

:smiley-finger007:

Unfortunately Newcastle lost 10 times, finished last in their champions league group and self destructed in the league cup.

Top 6 ? No chance

The performances have been poor and the 'only' thing left is this cup.

Absolutely but let's not just pretend Newcastle are pulling up trees. Arsenal away will be the litmus test.

Litmus test? Arsenal away.
Where they have only been beaten twice this season out of 16 games in all comps?
Where they have beaten Man City, Man United, Liverpool and various others in the PL?
Where they have beaten everyone in their Champions League group?
OK, so, let's just say if we don't win there, then what- we're a failure just like Liverpool & Man City?

Would you prefer I used Luton Town as the litmus test ?

that's Howe out at the end of the season then - no progress beyond Quarters and 11th place finish......
