I've been meaning to ask this for a while, in the 'banner' above how come Freddy Starr is there in a daft cap above Souness' right shoulder?

I'm not sure it is Freddy Starr. He doesn't appear to be eating a hamster.

Whats with the Scotch fella walking out of a post CL news conference because he was asked why the top two Prem teams are struggling in Europe?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15853955.stm

It could be argued that the 'journos' question was a veiled compliment as to past CL campaigns Unitd have had compared this season.

Also results are the be all and end all and United's thus far have been(by their recent CL standards)bad, cant the man see that or has he lost all concept of fair critisism being discussed by the media?

As for City they have no CL stats to compare their current bad form to.

He probably had to take a **** and wanted to miss the motorway traffic <ok>

P.S. In 08/09 we also had nine points after five games, with Villareal level on points. Amazing how quickly people forget that the group stage isn't always a stroll.

Did you see the whole conference Page or just the bit you conveniently want to highlight? There comes a time when anyone would get sick of answering the same inane questions from the press and perhaps that was it. Most people have a point where they get sick of work, after what by then was probably a sixteen hour day just maybe that was it.

We're not playing great, we're still in the comp and we've lost once all season. However you lot might like to cream over how **** we are, the reality is that we are still very much in every competition we entered and are in a good deal healthier position than the huge majority of our domestic rivals. In fact it can be said that only one is in a marginally better position but not in all competitions.

We'll worry about the next round, should we qualify, when it happens. Which is next year so our current form will by then be completely irrelevant.

Tbf i only saw the part in the link i posted, but to be fair to the lad that asked the question he was'nt asking something that a lot of Utd fans have been discussing in detail themselves along with them disagreeing with his tactics and team selection.

Just thought there was no malice in the question so could'nt really understand his response to it.

<ale> Good to see ya Luv

As for Fergie walking out of his press conference...I thought it was a perfectly reasonable question but I'm pretty sure it was a Beeb journo so that probably explains it. Cue more Mike Phelan on MOTD for the next 12 months <laugh>

Welcome back! I'm also struggling along on BT Openzone whilst I wait for the proper 'net to get installed in our new house. And recovering from shoulder surgery. Other than that, all's good. Barring our European form of course <grr>

    Not a wind up.

Ex United manager Frank O'Farrell's new book lifts the lid on Sir Matt's interference in team matters when he was a junior board member following his retirement,I've just watched an interview with O'Farrell on Granada Reports in which he revealed working in Sir Matt's shadow at OT was an impossible ask due to the great man still being around the club and telling him who to play etc during his short tenure there.

Here's a similar interview he gave to The Telegraph.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...presence-everywhere-at-Manchester-United.html

If and when Fergie leaves/retires as manager do you United Supporters think its better that he breaks all ties with the playing side of things(scouting/advice etc) and even that he does'nt take a place on the Utd board in case a modern day version of what happened 40yrs ago occurs?

The man who steps into his shoes needs free reign on all things football without interference imo.

there's absolutely no way that SAF retiring will be the end of him in football. I'm sure he'd like to just call it a day, but i reckon he'll be partially mentoring the next manager from behind the scenes. Offering advice over a bottle of wine and whatnot ;) He probably won't have anything to do with scouting or transfers, but if he thinks he could do something better, he'll say so.

Thats ok if his successor is an ex Fergie player but can you see a 'big name' European manager wanting Fergie's input in how he does his job after already establishing himself a good manager in his own right prior to becoming UTD manager?

not really i suppose, but there aren't many managers that would be big enough for united atm. I don't even think mourinho would mind fergies input, guardiola i'm not even sure i'd want, moyes give me a break. theres not many choices around presently to take over from the man himself
