Less than 5/1 for is extremely poor value imo. Will increase my insurance bet stake. Hopefully I'm wrong and I check in on here at 10pm to lots of quotes from people but I doubt it.
Yeah, must say RMs comments annoyed me. Of all the people, you should be shouting for a strong team tonight! Win tonight, and we're one game from Wembley, so why not go for it. Think we have a better than 5% chance. Of course, there's every chance we get thumped by their kids, and I end up with egg on my face, but I'm reasonably optimistic today.
If we start with a Smallbone/Rothwell midfield axis, I reserve the right to completely change my mind, btw.
I do strongly think today is a day to play Sulemana too. Should motivate him, and will be that kind of game, hopefully.
Tbh my main concern is the passing out, as Libby says Liverpool are very good at the press and can see them getting a lot of success regardless of who plays. We take an age to transition from defence to midfield and attack with the passing out. This could be down to teams not pressing us so we are just biding our time waiting for an opening or to move the oppo about, and Liverpool should press more which may help us do it quicker. I just think it has disaster written all over it and think it may be similar to the Hull first half but against better oppo
I was going to say, regardless of how weak Liverpool might be, we still need to not be a **** show too. And that seems to be a hard thing to achieve at the moment.
I am normally Mr Positive. But if we struggle to beat Huddersfield, can't beat Hull or Millwall at home and lose to Bristol City away, there is no way we can get anything from even a 4th or 5th string Liverpool side.
It's the FA Cup. Form goes out the window. Normally I'd agree but 5,500 Saints fans behind the goal, cup tie under the lights, anything can happen. Just ask Maidstone.
Form can change pretty quickly, it wasn't that long ago that we were battering teams by 4 and 5 goals and the first half at Swansea was the best by a Southampton team for a few seasons. This is a free hit so the pressure is off and playing at Anfield is a big motivator, i'm not going to predict that we will win tonight but I think we will see a better performance than in recent games.
Does that include the plaudits for being plucky little South coast team Southampton from the championship?
I've no idea how accurate this is but I found this on a Liverpool forum: This is the team according to the guy that leaks it: Kelleher Bradley Quansah VVD Tsimikas McConnell Clark Koumas Elliott Gakpo Danns
Everyone is forgetting that Sulemana tore their full strength team apart final game of last season… & we’ve a better defence now… 4 nil saints… surely… P.s… I’ve had to stay quiet since my second least favourite team sparked the panic losses Keep the faith!! UTS
We've just arrived at the hotel. Plenty of Saints fans booking in but bizarrely loads of Liverpool fans also. Couldn't imagine booking a hotel for a home game. I'd prefer to be a bit **** then having to fight football tourist's for tickets
Not expecting to get much of a mention from the pundits and if we were to get the better of them I fully expect the talk to be about their injuries etc than anything we bring to the table. We stopped Man City from getting the quad last season. I would love it if we could do the same to Liverpool.
Quite. Just imagine we score 2 and win by one. Pundit line will be 'let's take a look at those defensive errors by Liverpool'. Then..... 'amazing goal for Liverpool, showed grit a determination to get back into the game, another 10 minutes might have seen the result go for them'. 'Must give their (Saints but not mentioned) supporters, all 5500 of them a shout, gave it their all. Now for News at 10'.
In fact I've just checked the EPG for tonight and guess what? Liverpool v............ Only in the subsequent note does it mention us, not on the main white banner heading!!
I see the draw for the next round is at 7pm, available on ITV4 during the Chelsea v Leeds build up. Ball 4 for us
