£25 million was, so far, spent on the 'emergency alert system' so lives could be saved with a text to mobile phones. In the recent storms around a dozen people died, no alert was sent out. Meanwhile in Plymouth a massive unexploded WW2 bomb was reported on the national news for four days ... ... the emergency alert was sent out yesterday, two hours before the bomb was moved, and everyone had already left the area. It seems about as much use as a Nightingale hospital
Lib Dem candidate in Kettering stands down because of the abuse he receives about his stammer. We live in a ****e world.
All about a Chumocracy contract to friends and family of Rishi Sunak, if it actually works is neither here nor there. Taxpayers money transferred to billionaires, jobs a gud un
Agreed, social media has amplified hatred in the world about a hundredfold. I’m really worried about the world my kids are growing up in. But that’s a debate for another thread!
Hopefully, this sort of low-life, that revel in abusing/taking the mickey out of anybody with any disability will be eradicated sooner rather than later, and, unfortunately, most of us will know someone like that It's easier said than done, but we should all accept flaws and treat each other with respect and kindness, at least until it's not deserved
This has little to do with the thread title or the current government, i'm just puzzled. Lee Anderson is quite clearly an evil man with a screw loose. Ever since his early days in Mansfield and Ashfield he's been clearly unhinged and willing to do and say absolutely anything to grab a headline. Who thought it would be a good idea to make deputy chairmen of the Conservative Party ... ... he's a man who's first thought, when waking up, is, 'What can I say today that'll be offensive and controversial?' He's like Jeremy Clarkson on cocaine. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-68395642 please log in to view this image These are how his exact words would sound if you switch things around, Mr Starmer said: “I don't actually believe that the Jews have got control of our country, but what I do believe is they've got control of Khan and they've got control of London… He's actually given our capital city away to his mates.”
I hate this like. People with speech language and communication disorders should be applauded for getting through every day never mind standing up to be counted.
Quite right. It's often said that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit ... ... it's not, if its done right it can be clever as Winston Churchill often proved. Personal insult is the lowest imo ... unless it's Hitler of course Mocking someone who stammers, by imitating them, is as low as it gets. This is a joke I posted the other day which mocks myself. It illustrates how people sometimes stupidly finish sentences for people. I did it, when I was young, but soon learned. I'd hope someone afflicted would find it funny ... please tell me if I'm wrong. 'I had a mate with a bad stammer, he was always being locked up for one crime or another ... ... I had to stop visiting him, in prison, I was always finishing his sentences.'
26th February, 2024 • 2:59pm Record number of Channel migrants reach UK on single day in February Home Office figures show that the 290 people crossed in five boats on Sunday, taking year’s total to 2,006
Have they forgotten the previous records ? Sure there have been days of 100’s more than that . Or is this to be read as for a “ February” day ?
I think it's a February day only although I didn't read the article, pointless tbh .. ... and I know, tbh, there's no way to 'stop' the boats no matter who's PM. It was just a really daft headline grabbing promise.
Ah now Smug, you must have misheard. Stop the Boats is one of Sunak's key priorities. When did you ever hear a politician promise anything
Yes, you're right mate, he started off by calling them promises ... ... now he's calling them priorities, next stop will be hopes
