Would be a no from me Doesn’t seem a good fit Red flags for me fans of his clubs didn’t like him and he never lasted long Word up in Scotland was he turned the Aberdeen job down because the change their manager too often
Ok the plan is stick with Dodds till season is over, Dodds doesnt do enough to be offered the job. we then move on to our chosen candidate and have him in place within a week or two. Then we do the Sunderland thing of waiting till the summer window is near ending to bring in new signings. Is that the fair way to go.
The key words in this process are stability and continuity. History tells us that constant change results in failure, not reward. We need to appoint the right person for the long term.....take the growing pains, and the failures along the way in our stride....but to result in an overall improvement over time, which delivers sustained success. Everyone involved needs to be on board, from the owners right the way through the club to the fans. Nothing else will do. This next head coach appointment is,in my view, crucial to our future and needs to be the correct fit. If we screw up again,we're looking at mediocrity or worse. The Championship, imo,is the most exciting, competitive division of the four and we need to be able to compete at the top end. When we get there, consistently,we can then think about the PL....not before.
We should be figuring out a new manager now, holding informal discussions. If dodds, which I don't see happening, some how performs a miracle and we finish the season having pushed on, I don't know. But if we carry on as we've been going, we should be appointing a new manager within a week or two within the seasons end. The strength of how we work means our signing really shouldn't need to wait for a new manager signing on. That new manager needs to buy into the squad and buy into Speakman. So the appointment really shouldn't be a roadblock to transfers from our side.
I also wonder, if it is someone from abroad, and he tells Speakman and Harvey, you need to have a look at this player, they wouldnt be against it?
I'd hope they're already scouting players abroad but if that player had slipped through the net, I'd hope they would at very least take a second look.
I wouldnt put much in fans views personally. Forest fans round here thought Cooper was out of his depth, clueless tactically etc. I wouldnt listen to them one bit and would welcome Cooper.
Dack had nowt to do with Stu H he came direct through Tony. No for Scotty P he would never move up north. When Souy was at the scum I helped scotty get sorted. He hated it up North. Carley hated it even more.
We did a lot of business early in the window last summer - Jobe, Hemir, Traintis & Seelt all signed before pre-season started IIRC

Dodds has got a reasonably safe job here at the moment but if he were to go for the Managers job the chances are that this time next year he would be out of a job. He might fancy going on the Manager merry go round or he might prefer to live here and be the head coach for the foreseeable future. If he’s a really good coach I hope we keep him as a coach. I don’t get the feeling he would be very successful as a Manager though I could be wrong.
