Avoid? Smash it into pulp with a spade and bury it under 50 feet of concrete never to see daylight again.

Luv gave it a solid 9.9

    I don't mean Solid gave it a 9.9 in case there's any confusion. I don't think he's watched it <whistle>

It's this sort of stuff that puts me off watching The Father lol

I got to the end and wondered wtf have I just watched.

I don't begrudge Anderson though, every good director disappears up his own arse at some point. Just look at Nolan with Tenet.

It's not one of his better films for sure, I'm just a bit of an Anderson fanboy. I wouldn't recommend anyone to watch it unless you were a big fan.

I'm a fan of Anderson but doesn't mean when he churns out self-indulgent claptrap he gets a free pass. It was hugely disappointing as I was genuinely looking forward to it as the highlight of a year of general ****e. I hope he returns to form next time.

The Dahl adaptations he did recently on Netflix were really good.

    Yeh I like those.

It says a lot that he gets the best actors to sign on for all his stuff.

    Land of bad - 6.4

Would’ve scored around a 7 but for a stupid scene involving a telephone, a basketball game and the army. You’ll understand it if you ever watch it.

Russell Crowe a bit of a podgy **** nowadays too. Bit different from his Maximus Decimus Meridius era.

I don't like producers who try so hard to be artistic they forget that plot is important too! There needs to be balance in everything.

I used to love it. I bet it's probably just as relevant and on the mark today as it was back then.
