"We've just paved the front garden, it looks so much better, despite Mr H's constant mowing of the old lawn. We've left a couple of beds ........."

What on earth do the neighbours say? I have heard of people sleeping with the windows open, but I would have thought this to be a bit extreme. <laugh>

I am not complaining and not trying to have a go at anyone but could I ask who closed the RIP thread?

My preference would be to allow it to stay open. Yes I know that it seems to have been set up by a WUM but we are all adult enough to handle WUMs and indeed on 606 it was one of the funny things we did - recipies, fried eggs etc - here we are too sterile - could we not leave it to our posters to post or not to post - that is the question.

That may have been me by accident. I just left it as i saw someone ask for it to be shut. I can re-open it as it was not my intention to close it, hence my posting on it.

I'm only expressing a personal preference and that is to only intervene if there is a need - if someone does not like a WUM they are free to ignore them but others of us quite enjoy seeing clever responses to some of these twerps.

A Mod decision - not mine

I did leo I had 2 pms asking for it to be shut plus Lloydys open suggestion! in favour of closing it !
I also think RIP wum threads is a bit on the sick side! hence the decision to shut it , I hope you understand!

You can't please everyone Norway, it's clear it's a WUM but there are some funny comments on it. May not be in the best of taste, but we're all able to ignore it.

I agree, i think it was quite funny that Barry put Beale in his place by simply stating the difference in middle name.

I also wonder if by locking or closing threads like that we are giving the person who posts it the attention they crave. If we dont like it we dont read it.

To see a preview of the thread you just hover the mouse over the name.

As a principle I am not in favour of interference on threads - certainly that was how I approached moderation - one person's WUM is anothers amusement. I strongly advocate people voting with their own feet and walking away from threads they don't like. Individual freedom is precious so we should not tell another what to read or not. HOwever I am only one opinion here and will not be upset if there is a strong set of opinion against my views - I have the same freedom and can also walk away if I don't like something.

Clearly there are lines to be drawn but I think they are a lot further out than the bad taste shown by Ian Beale

Please Norway do not do something purely for me - you , H and Dan are the arbiters of how to do things here. I will accept that decision whether I support it or not

Easiest way to deal with it ,is to leave it and do nothing , but then that inaction is an open invite to the wum to have another go , However if it amuses people we can let them in ! On the flip side the pre cursor of the nest was started by a wum thread !
Just as an aside please keep an eye out for the"adverts and scamming threads" we try to delete these on sight , but some may get through!
