I am working on the pendulum scheme at the moment. Working first then swinging back to eating. I tried it the other way round, eating first, but couldn't then get up much energy to go out and work.

Today I have spent all of my time down the far field getting ready for winter which was quite strenuous, so should have lost some weight. This evening the Fish et Frites van made its monthly visit, so will have put it all back on. :(

Well last night I decided that I would go for a long walk this morning, so up and out by 0745hrs set off at a pace and after about 3/4 mile my shins were screaming WTF! having previously suffered from shin splints I thought F@@k let's slow down as I have a long way to go anyway as I went the pain subsided and I thought yeah you can do it! Listening to my training music on my ipod really helped and as i was listening to the theme tunes from the Rocky films they were pushing me on. Anyway I returned home after 1 and 1/4 hours and have just scoffed my porridge:) Yes my knees and foot ache but I feel a sense of accomplishment;) and the route is a circular one of sorts, so now I am going to try and do it most days. It can only help in my quest to lose weight and get fitter along with the swimming!

Now for the joyous task of food shopping on a Saturday<yikes>

that's fantastic Al! I've had shin splints, they're blinkin' painful..but i've found if i correct my stance it can improve...so you kinda need to push your bum forward a bit as you walk, and keep your back straight, that should help ease the pressure on your shins. Well done though, great stuff! I was awake then, i should have come with you! lol

I would love a dog!! Nothing smaller than a westie though, but probably a lab. If not a lab then a Border Collie.

I have been trying to convince the other half that a dog is a great idea, but her retort is when I retire( that might be Tuesday if it goes pear shaped) I can have one!;)

I have only been able to use the oil for a few times as massaging my knee for any length of time agitates it :( But I will continue with it and get my knee used to the massage;)

H, Your more than welcome to join me on my walk, the company would be great;) Shame you live over a 100 miles away;)

Depending what happens on Tuesday with my Med Board, they will hopefully just say carry on as you are and we won't send you away anywhere;) If that is the case I am going to work on Mrs PSH and get a cat (or 2 just as company for me) Then in the longer term work on getting a dog<party>

i figured a cat was a good compromise too, though i'm not much of a cat person, but they're very much easier to look after than dogs, and don't need sending away when you go on holiday. Thankfully my cat does love a cuddle, if he was one of those miserable cats that doesn't like people til it's feeding time i wouldn't be happy! lol...i did think though, that after a while i'd work on the dog thing..so far it's not working but we live in hope lol
