What Bob does is up to him. You have chosen to share private messages sent in good faith. In private. If you can not see the issue with that then you are a untrusting individual.
Exactly what Bob has done, in private and on here, yet you say that's 'up to him' ... ... but I'm scum and a weasel. What a hypocrite
This argument has 'ran it's course' lads, and all that it's doing now is ruining yet another one of RTB's threads . . . . he must be really sick of this happening It would be better if you both stopped (yourselves) now
But it's in private. There is a trust there. You have placed it on the main form. Out in open. For clout. Bad bad crack. It's very different.
Absolutely no problem from me. I've made my point, stuck by it and don't need to keep repeating it ... ... which I wouldn't have done until I was questioned. That's all folks.
Getting back to the match. We were so poor mind. So open. The set up clearly didn't work, especially first half. Even Dan Neil looked like a poor player.
There was a lot of positive energy around - real shame we couldn’t take that into the performance. Judging from Dodds’s post match, he tried to set us up in an attacking way but it played into Swansea’s hands as they intended to really attack us rather than sit back. Hindsight says concentrating on our defensive solidity would have been a better move. We needed to win yesterday but we’ve got to be solid enough to at least get a point.
I like Trai but he doesnt have the attributes to play there imo. Odd choice of formation based on that one pick alone. I said before we dont have wing backs at the club unless Pembele is ready. Realistically the only 2 we have are Pembele and Huggins and Huggins is right sided too. I may be sounding negative but the composition of our squad doesnt give a coach many formation options at all. If we dont play 2 wide attackers we will end up with 4 on the bench. We almost have to play 2 wide attackers but arguably dont have anyone who can play as a 9. We dont have depth in the engine room so it is the same 2 each week. We dont seem to have an option of a 3 in the middle that works cohesively, oddly because we have more left footers now. No variety in full back positions so either a flat 4 or 5. Some folk talk about changing tactics and formations like it is a flick of a switch. It only works when you have different types of players at the top level. We are all about 4231 here, not much else looks right on paper with our players. I think we need a major shot in the arm. It has to be a new coach and his team. We need it now so the summer is influenced by him on the playing side. The recruitment team have done soms good work, but dont seem to have a grasp on how to build a squad that a coach can use flexibly. A new head coach has to be given time to educate them on positional weaknesses we have.
I agree with much of that, especially about the next manager appointment ... the sooner the better. I think the Dodds statement was just to calm down the clamour tbh. Mowbray and Beale both regularly complained that they were 'getting to know the players' and what they could do. We don't need August and September to be more of the same, a confident start is vital for the supporters as much as the team. This same squad managed to beat Leeds and West Brom recently so we're not exactly a basket case. The appointment of Beale, and run of injuries, have thrown everything up in the air but things will settle and we need a more balanced team. We all know what's needed and I doubt the club is unaware, we all want success.
To be fair Dodds changed our formation after half an hour yesterday and changed tactics at half time, both to good effect, it's not like it can't be done.
First half was one of the worst I’ve see we could have been 4 down. Concern now is this regression is starting to look permanent and it’s now in my head ‘are our players as good as we think’. We sat after and tried to fathom how many players we have would get a game at Leeds, Leicester and Saints, and could only agree on Dan & Jacky. I know that’s extreme as it’s the 3 relegated teams but it shows we are levels off, absolute levels. We haven’t made a truly impactful signing for 2 years now and that is horrific. New coach needs to be one who’s shown they can build, live in a pressure cooker and mould. It screams Cooper. Absolutely ****ing screams it.
My point really was mate he tried a formation that I dont think can work win we are needing a win, because the players arent there for that. I dont see Hume as that pacey overlapping full back for example. He changed back to a formation that we nearly always play.
Good post . I suggest we revert to a more cautionary line up asp to halt the slide, some careful consideration of what succeeded against WBA and Leeds might be a start, or when we can move our captain into the diamond in front of a back 4 in a 4/4/2 set up , these formations can work with the right players, and players that we already have at the club imo.
Cooper would be my choice and the choice of a few of the lads I go to games with. Could we land him though?
Absolutely. That's the issue with the model. It's wait wait and then sell. Impactful is a great word for it. You're correct too. Some of the players we have are vastly over rated and the team is crying for experience, to dig in. We are very soft and easy to play against IMO.
I don’t see why not. We are a bigger club than Forest and we are in a better place than they were when he went in. Their owner is a lunatic and he handled that well. He had players launched at him from all angles and managed to tune it and make a team. He hasn’t done enough in the PL to land one of the bigger jobs and we are as big if not bigger than 12-14 PL clubs. Ambitious move but for me it looks like ‘opportunity knocks’. He is sitting there available and even if we moved now and treat this season as groundwork. I can’t see past him right now personally. This isn’t the time for a gamble on a young coach who may be the next big thing but may just as well be the next big compensation payout.
