The positive spin is that it's far better to blow up now, than in April. I don't see why our current run of results should have any impact on our play-offs chances - there's plenty of time to turn things back around, and be in a position where we go into the play-offs full of confidence and bang in form. I do think that holding onto 4th is important, but right now there isn't any part of which is worried that might not happen. If the play-offs were next week, I'd be concerned. But they're not.
Funny thing opinions eh? I thought Edozie looked dangerous thoughtout and haven't been impressed by Sully at all recently.
Edozie wasn’t strong enough against their right back, but he could have played around him if the rest of the team stopped giving him hospital passes.
Bad one. We seem a bit lost don't we. We are not at the top three autos competition and with the gap down to 7th being large we just seem a bit stuck. Not sure we got the January transfer activity right. We need Street wise fighters at this stage of the season. Shame we lose Nathan teller too. Never really understood that one
Can't help but feel the level of horses and police vans can make these situations worse sometimes. If you're gonna kettle people like caged animals then some people will undoubtedly act that way. Appreciate though that they're ****ed if they do and ****ed if they don't mind. Surprised they didn't keep Millwall fans in though, would have been the obvious choice seeing as loads of saints fans had already left and they had a win to celebrate. Even 10 minutes would have been fine.
Well that was a bit of a **** show wasn't it? Still we have been spoiled this season at SMS so i won't complain too much and we really beat ourselves today with two really poor goals conceded. We are missing Downes way more that I thought we would and the whole team appears to be out of whack with Russell desperately experimenting to find a solution. I'm sure that this is a short term blip and we can again attain the level of football the team achieved prior to the Brizzle loss which was very very good especially if we can find the right balance and play players in their favoured positions. I'm not one who is fearing the prospect of the play-offs as much as some and as Brendy says there is plenty of time left to turn the form around.
Thing is, we had a stable set up for the undefeated run. Now we’ve lost Downes, he seems to be struggling to bring a shape to the team, and is trying to be clever with the Stephens/KWP/Rothwell stuff. What frustrates me is that he did find a perfectly serviceable solution at West Brom, then promptly ditched it.
Unlikely would just up my game. I do tend to agree with some of what they are saying, namely that if we don’t go up this year then I wouldn’t back Martin to do it next year with, probably, a weaker squad. Also his whole system falls apart unless Flynn Downes and only Flynn Downes is playing, happened at Swansea as well apparently. Anyway he is obviously getting at least the rest of the season so just to hope that Downes is back soon or one of his monkey on a typewriter decisions pays off
I think as long as we get play offs RM is safe, but if we fail to get promoted and don’t have an exceedingly strong start next season he will be up against it with the fan base. People won’t care if the squad is weaker, they will be absolutely demanding promotion next season if we don’t get it this time out.
I don't agree or get why he thinks this, but if that was the case then it certainly doesn't need him at RB! Him starting over Manning today was crazy.
I’m not that bothered if we get promoted because I think the way we play, all of the dicking around passing the ball out of defence we will get found out every week.
Oh yeah I don’t think he will be sacked this summer if we don’t go up. Next year will be harder for sure with us almost certainly having to slash the wage bill.
Isn’t the issue that we signed Rothwell when we could have brought in a good DM? This was the same mistake we were making in the Premier League too. I don’t think this is an RM issue.
He doesn't think that at all! I think you've all missed Russell's thinking. You see he sussed a couple of weeks ago we weren't going to make the top two and so he's decided to try lots of weird tactics and positional Lash ups so that by the time the play offs come around he will know what doesn't work. ****ing genius really. Except he'll probably forget what his best team and tactics were.
